MAKfalcon (MAK): MC-found BF eating a pigeon on N side of mallYay she's safe! Thank you MAK!! I knew eventually I'd see her Carly! Still, there's always that piece of worry in the back of your mind until you do see them! I was worried especially with that other pair around the around and after the fight with Seth. And then you didn't see Frankie after that...anyway I"m super relieved! Thanks for looking out for her

CROW - Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Inc. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ozzie, the bald eagle, co-star of the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam. Ozzie passed away last night at CROW due to complications from his recent injuries that included multiple severe lacerations and a broken toe in each foot. Ozzie was brought to CROW for a second time on Sunday, September 27, after he was found weak and injured in a North Fort Myers backyard. He arrived at CROW late at night in critical condition, unable to stand and fighting septicemia (a bacterial blood infection). It is highly likely these injuries were sustained from a fight with another bald eagle near the nest that was documented on the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam Facebook page. It was also reported that he had been entangled in barbwire. A necropsy will be performed on Ozzie at the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study (SCWDS) at The University of Georgia and we will share those results with you when they become available. We would like to thank everyone for their support and unwavering belief in CROW during Ozzie’s rehabilitation and recent stay. Your endless words of encouragement carried the CROW staff through challenging times.

The Toronto Zoo On May 14, giant panda Er Shun underwent two non-surgical artificial insemination procedures as part of the Giant Panda Conservation Breeding Program. On September 25, Zoo experts and a vet from Ontario Veterinary College detected a fetal heartbeat (top). Then on September 29, another ultrasound was performed and we captured an image of a possible SECOND panda fetus (bottom). While this is very exciting news, we remain cautiously hopeful as the next three weeks are critical. Zoo staff and panda experts will continue to monitor Er Shun and we will provide you exclusive updates on Twitter, @TheTorontoZoo. We are excited for you to join us on this incredible journey #TOpandawatch. You can view Er Shun’s ultrasound at http://youtu.be/XgTm5HIDZ0M.

What the?? Let's hope not, thought it was coming down?? Not a good location to watch! Not good for us but obviously B and DC prefer it right now and that should tell us something. I expect with 2 new pairs next door and the loss of an offspring this year has had them rethinking their location. They know better than us what is good for their continued survival and things may be or have happened that we haven't witnessed. If you take the box down now, you risk them either relocating elsewhere or potentially losing their territory to another pair - like I said they must have a good reason for moving. I think pefa's have shown us over the years that they are intelligent and have the capability to adapt to new threats. Offering them a choice is a good thing.
