Carolyn has posted video of them taking them baby out, was very quiet but Dorothy was fierce as always.

It's too bad they didn't have a chick they could foster with her in case they have to keep the little and send her into care.  She's been so devoted to this baby, it's been wonderful to watch.  I see now where Beauty gets her good mothering skills from 

Ossie can be tied to Dotca through his family tree..he's related to Windwhistler as Ossie's dad and WW's mom and dad were Toby and Alberta.  Surge's mom was Angel who was also Dotca's mom.  And DC of course is also related to Madame X as she was his grandmother.  It's too early and I need more coffee but I need to do a chart one of these days. 

If it is determined that the chick may become at risk of falling out of the nest, and/or that it is unlikely to survive in the wild, we will remove the chick from the nest and take it to a wildlife rehabilitator for further analysis, and then to a permanent home where it can have a happy life in safety.

That's the best thing we could ask for, that his health and safety is put first!  Great response and huge relief to know that they're taking his best interests to heart. 

I'm very sorry to hear you are back in the hospital MAK, hope you keep fighting and come back to us soon.  We all miss your daily reports and I"m sure Beauty misses you too! 

One of it's leg's isn't right though, maybe all that kicking and pulling hurt it.  He tried to stand but can't seem to put pressure on the left leg.  It's out to the side now.  Okay he's pulled it in, he pooped which is good and now will hopefully sleep for a few hours.  Dorothy is much more relaxed now and on the perch looking proud of herself.

Dorothy flipped the baby over finally.  She grabbed it's lwing and dragged it and gave it a toss and it flipped over.  I just hope it's not too late.

I don't care what anyone says, she must think this chick is somehow viable otherwise she'd have given up and let it die.  I wish they'd at least examine it before they pronounced it 'abnormal'.  

Oh and she doesn't look old, she looks fantastic!!  

   Well I feel bad now, I thought his being on his back a few times was like here, just brief and didn't seem to cause any lasting harm.  Didn't realize E2 fed him on his back tonight, I somehow don't think this is normal but then again what do I know. 

Oh no, I thought he was okay....gees   She's not helping by trying to brood him either. 

I"m going to say it's a family thing - first our baby here, then Dorothy's and lest we not forget the Queen of laying on her back 'Miss Tesh'

I'm a bit out of the loop on this how this whole thing came about as I've not been watching regularly but every time I do the chick looks fine to me.  It's been fed, brooded - extensively so by an over protective mom, and is growing. 

Solo chicks as we know are always tough to watch, they don't have a sibling to lean on so they fall over alot especially when they're being stuffed silly and they've got those big feet to contend with.  Having watced Dorothy in years past, she's never been the type to use up energy caring for a chick that isn't well so I'm going to follow her cues and figure since she is caring for it with all her might - in her falcon mind, this chick is viable. 

Third breakfast so far.

Cam is back up this morning, still only seeing 1 baby feeding right now.

Edit to add:  watched the entire feed and she never leaned in or went out of view to feed another, second chick may not have survived...will keep an eye out for another feed to see if a second pops up.

8:20 am and another feed going on and still only seeing 1 baby.
