Big nest box fight here tonight, I missed it but they said it went on for over 1.5 hours.  Two males and a female all in box fighting.

And another fight earlier at Genoa Plant, two females and looks like the resident female may have won.

I have to wonder sometimes if any foresight was given to what would happen when the population came back.  I'm sure they fought back in the day but they nested on cliff sites then and since then all the cliffs have either eroded or been bulldozed for urban sprawl.  And the recovery falcons all want to nest on buildings since most were born there.  I wonder that they never realized that locations for nest boxes would be limited especially in cities where tall buildings lean more towards condos and people that pay a half million or more for a condo don't welcome falcons as they can't access their balconies for spring/summer months.  This is the worst year I've seen since I started following falcons in the last 10 years.

Mississauga MEC - Web cam came back online yesterday and we saw 2 eggs in the scrape.  This morning there are 3 eggs I got a look at!  Bands on female are Black/Red which is consistent with Midnight's colors but still need to see the letters/numbers to confirm.  Male is unbanded.

MEC Camera Work and Big News. The First Egg is Here.
March 19, 2015 - Mississauga - Executive Centre
Tracy Simpson Reports:

I was out at MEC today continuing to work on bringing the camera image, which is functioning perfectly, to the website. It would seem that the issue is within the building itself and I will have the help of MEC staff tomorrow to try and rectify it. During the building upgrades that have now made the MEC complex a fabulous example of sustainable workplaces, it would appear the camera and router are not connecting. Fingers crossed we get it fixed tomorrow.

The bigger and most fabulous news is that it appears as have our first egg confirmed in southern Ontario. The egg was just partially visible at the top edge of the camera image as the female has decided to lay against the north edge of the box. There may be a second egg beside it but it really is impossible to tell right now. I was able to catch the pair copulating and we are not in full time incubation yet. The male was positively identified as the unbanded male that has been there for many seasons and the females identity has yet to be confirmed. The good news is that as the female turns the eggs, given where she has laid them,  she will have to roll them towards the centre of the box giving us a full view when they hatch. Congratulations to MEC on your first egg!!

When did Hera allegedly disappear?

I don't know if anyone knows Alison.  The cams cam back up in early March and people noticed the female wasn't banded.

Kinda have to wonder why no nest visits from both yet!!

Could be migrators flying through and she's on guard.

Well with all the changes going on the past 2 weeks in the falcon world, I'll admit I was nervous when she couldn't find B and she didn't come out for food.   tired

Same here, MAK called me and asked if I saw her on archives this am and sure enough, she was there earlier.  This time of year is nail biting, more for you in Canada!  Sad

I was going through the archives when I saw you post the photo of B from them  laugh

!!! New Male on Site - Positively ID’d
March 16, 2015 - Etobicoke - Sun Life Centre

Kathy Reports:

This morning I noticed the male had a dark band on his left leg and some other distinguishing features that were not attributed to our resident male Jack.

Tracy was kind enough to come down to the site and has just positively ID’d our new male as Lucky - who was previously seen romancing Quest until the Don Mills resident male Skey returned from migration last week.

We are attempting to determine if Jack is at his other site and will return or if this is settled.  O’Connor and he have been bowing to each other so she is certainly welcoming him which may indicate a territorial battle over the weekend.
