I can see some immature feathers on this bird in MAK's photos or I'm imagining it? but I do see brown so she could indeed be Billie.

C&C have a good explanation of molting on their FB page with photos.

As per C&C: First molts for peregrines are incomplete, meaning that they don't have every feathers replaced by the adult gray (which is why you can often see some remaining brown feathers on a young adult peregrine that has only gone through one molt).

MAKfalcon (MAK): After checking my pics I can say there is definitely at least one 7, possibly two 7's on black. This may very well be Billie At ST

Well wouldn't that be something!  Hope you can confirm her ID soon.  Good detective work as always ladies!  2thumbsup

2530  Anything Else / Totally OT / Re: Building renovation in downtown Rochester on: 18-Aug-14, 04:12:58 PM
Maybe GVAS could get involved.  help

I was thinking the same thing.  Doesn't FLAP in Toronto talk to building owners about making windows bird safe?

Guess nobody knows here..will have to ask Carly.  I'll ask her your question too, Pat.

They do yes or enlightened owners can ask them and they will advise them on how to make the buildings safe for birds.
2531  Other Nature Related Information / General Nature Discussion / BrightSource solar plant sets birds on fire as they fly overhead on: 18-Aug-14, 03:12:49 PM
Workers at a state-of-the-art solar plant in the Mojave Desert have a name for birds that fly through the concentrated beams of solar energy focused upward by the plant's 300,000 mirrors — "streamers," for the smoke plume that comes from birds that ignite in midair.

Federal wildlife investigators who visited BrightSource Energy's Ivanpah plant last year and watched as birds burned and fell, reporting an average of one "streamer" every two minutes, are urging California officials to halt the operator's application to build a still-bigger version.

Great news!  HOpe the reason they were asking was just because the bird has been 'seen' not injured.

I'm thinking the reason why we think we've seen this band before is that in our minds we're combining Billy's 77/AX black/green band with our many BA black/green bands.

You are probably right.  happy

No it's tickling my brain too, I know this band number from somewhere.  By 'know', I mean I saw it or one close to it either in video or a photo somewhere.
