ZA Facebook Update:

Lun Lun was worn out yesterday. She left the nest box and laid down in the adjacent den to rest. After a few minutes, it was obvious that she fell fast asleep. So, we put both cubs in the incubator and let her rest. Taking care of two cubs is very taxing for her. I’m glad she got a much-needed nap last night. -

As the falcon turns continues:

The band number on this bird is confirmed as solid black O over 8 and is a three character band.  These bands that have a line dividing the upper and lower characters have not been used in a long time but last year, 2012, one was applied to a male chick at the William Osler Hospital and yellow tape was placed over the USFW band.  This is Ossie from the 2012 nesting season of Hurricane and Chessie at William Osler!

Midnight was originally with Milton but then he was displaced by Striker (Linn and Reuben's boy).   Hopefully all birds stay safe.

I'm glad they did the right thing - she is a wild bird and deserves to be free.

As per Mathew, one of Jack and TR Mom's sons has been taken to Toronto Wildlife after being rescued on the ground.

Aug 6, 2013 - Catching up since the weekend

Over the weekend we found a bird hopping around on the ground. He didn't look overly bad but there was definitely something wrong with one wing, and his failure to get airborne resulted in his capture.

Working with the MNR, I was advised to take the juvenile to Toronto Wildlife Centre in downsview, and so I did. I have been told by TWC that they won't likely contact me given how busy they are, however I have been assured by the MNR that if/when they find out more info I will be told.

I'll keep you posted, but as you know with injuries to bird wings, these things aren't simple.

Thanks Kim and everyone for the info.! Made it up to see her and will observe and report more later. Talked to Scott, who couldn't make it but set me up for easy access and I'm in contact with DOW. SW is lying down on the drawbridge (as you can probably see) and Boomer is on the nest ledge far to the left. Good news is that she appears to have eaten recently (food remnants on her beak). Mostly snoozing now. I'll stick awhile and will post tonight.

Got to see Ms Quest in the 'feather' today for the first time...she's absolutely gorgeous!!  She likes to eat in the nest box too, saw her take food right in there and mow down
