Thank you, Carly. Yes, I understand that one's experienced eyes will provide answers. Do you have any idea about the cause of death? As with many living things on this earth, I am sure it is just Mother Nature making her own decisions. B.
I have no idea what happened with the wee one to cause this. I was at first concerned because one of the other girls was gaping quite a bit yesterday morning which could indicate Trich however as I watched her over the day I saw she was trying to eat feathers and other yuckovers in the nest box so likely she just picked at something she couldn't digest easily. She's been fine the last 24 hours and looks quite healthy so that rules that out. Unless the DEC recover the little one's body and examines it, there is no way we can know what happened. I could speculate but I'd rather not as that does no one any good and sometimes it's as you say "Mother Nature" - and we just have to accept it much as we don't like it.

hi Bobbie I woke up early and brought up the cam and as soon as I saw the baby lying on it's side and not breathing I knew she/he was gone. It's not a natural position for them when sleeping and of course as I had the live cam up I could see right away that the little one wasn't breathing. I then looked down at the chat and saw that someone else had observed the baby seemed to be in distress late the night before and they were watching when it all happened. Participating in fledge watches over the years and sadly having to pick up deceased bodies from the rooftops after they hit glass - you kind of learn to recognize these things on first glance. It's one of the sadder things you learn when working in a building that is all reflective glass I'm afraid. That being said, it doesn't make it any easier, no matter how many times you see it and no matter the type of bird - it's still a loss of a precious life.

Stormin and Chaos have 4 babies this year! Stormin was positively ID'd today and you can see photos of him, Chaos and the kids of CPF's FB page!
Two bandings today - this morning was at Toronto /Sheraton Centre...
Welcome Timbit(male, 615g, 26 days old, banded 02/AW, Blue tape), Vimny(male, 630g, 26 days old, banded 05/AW, white tape), Epione(female, 875g, 25 days old, banded Z/37, Red tape) and Marriott(male, 610g, 26 days old, banded 06/AW, yellow tape)!
Congrats to Mum(unbanded) and Dad... Stormin! Yes, Toronto's long time resident, is calling Sheraton home this year, and he's looking good too🙂. A very cute, fiesty bunch of chicks and a fierce couple of parents here. We would like to thank all involved to help accommodate "our special needs" during this unusual times of social distancing.

Poor little one! I hope the other two remain healthy. I hope so too patsy. By all accounts Aria is a very protective mama and she is doing a good job with the kids. Although they have covering to some extent - with another ledge above them - they are for all intense purposes out in the open in many respects so not unusual for there to be challenges there. The previous female also had similar challenges so I think it's fair to say it's location as opposed to the pair because the previous 2 (Mom and Jack) were a different pair. That being said I'm hopeful the 2 kids continue to do well. And they have a caring bunch of people to watch over them, they are even organizing a fledge watch and will be trained by CPF for it.

So sadly Aria and Indy's last hatch didn't survive. I'm not sure of what happened as everyone there was quite distraught over it so all I got was that the little one didn't make it past 24 hours. The other 2 are doing well though.
On the good news side - the management has given permission for CPF to band the 2 babies. Banding is set for May 21st.

Definitely 3 but might be 4, she thinks the last egg might have hatched yesterday afternoon and it's leaning on the one to the right at the front. But we'll see, it kind of looks like it but I'd like to see a 4th head up before we call it.
Aria's a messy feeder like her Dad LOL! LOL..yes I noticed that. I just heard from Marlene again and she saw the fourth egg so it is definitely 3. I think that is perfect for a first time mom
