"Canada is the only country that permits the export of polar bear parts." WHAT?!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-21688444

Confusing I know especially in light of the fact they are threatened but it's the 'consitutional right' of the Inuit peoples to live and hunt off the land.  Touchy subject up here; same with the 'seal hunt'.

I'm just stating the way it is so before anyone lurking out there jumps on me - this is fact not a personal opinion I'm expressing.

Yes it would be, sorry I keep forgetting poor Kendal  Roll Eyes  I always think of Tiago because he's right next door!

I often wonder if having Tiago and RM next door helps with that Kris.  Because Tiago would know who his parents are and the sites are so close together .  Imagine you fly in and 2 females or 2 tiercels come at you - they might not be working together per say but both defending their own ledges so in effect it might foster cooperation between them even if it wasn't intended.

The new boy finally entered the nest box!!  Looks like he's a Michigan boy  2thumbsup

About time he left that ledge and got in that box! He's a young one too! I know she's up there but how old is Kathy Q?
She was 14 last year so she'll be 15 and will be interesting to see if she reproduces this year.  She's also Erin's sister from the same year (Tiago's mom at King Street) so be interesting to see if Erin and WW have kids this year too.

For the past few weeks people have noticed the male here has a 'purple oxidized band' and is not Zeus.  Ferenz got clear photos of his bands today and definitely not Zeus.  SGB got video of them bonding and chupping today in the nest box..just awhile ago and they seemed awfully comfortable with each other.

Today's events start here at BCAW:  http://www.peregrinefalcon-bcaw.net/viewtopic.php?f=325&t=1494&start=120

There is another sub adult there!!!  She is ringed! (banded).  There was another female around one day  with a ring and they thought she might just be passing through on migration but guess what she's at the box with Antonio!!

Terka has photos of them together at the nest box!

Is this an uncommon place for migrants? Why doubtful? How horrific for this girl.  Sad

Not a lot of pefas in those parts it seems, took almost 2 years for this sub adult sweetie to show up and we were all so hopeful he would finally have a mate.

Ditto, it's great that they are holding off so the falcons can nest for the season.  Wonderful people!

Kris,  mw over at BCAW has reported over the past several months that there have been frequent sightings of EC at his favorite roosting spot on campus.  The most recent one she posted was from February 11th.  handshake
