All is well.  SGB got a positive ID on durand from her video and I got a shot of her and Spark bonding in the nest box.  She's out on the ledge now preening and keeping her eyes peeled.  Hopefully the interloper got a safe escort out of the territory  handshake

Intruder in Columbus, Durand (Pigotts sister) defending..photo and videos at BCAW.  No sign of either bird now so hopefully she's driven the interloper out.

May all our feathered friends and other species find shelter and stay safe during the upcoming storm.  Going to be a rough ride for them out in the open  Sad

Especially along the coast, right in the migration path too!

I know  Sad  Cry

And three out of four chances he's related to Windwhistler too since he's Tiago and Kendal's dad as well as Grayor's dad.

He's got his bases covered  Cool

Blaze (Quest) had blue tape this year, so did Panagiotis (Lyn), Fef had blue tape (RM).  Grayor from King St had blue tape also.

!!! 2012 Nesting Report on Screech!
October 21, 2012 - Etobicoke - Sun Life Centre
Kathy Reports:

I had checked earlier this summer and couldn’t find any news and then got caught up at our site with fledge activities but am now catching up on news that I missed.

Our 2009 born Screech has again nested successfully with her mate Zeus at the AT&T Tower in Pontiac, Michigan as per Barb Baldinger.  They produced 2 offspring this year, one male and one female!

Very happy to find that news and to see that our girl is still going strong!!  Screech is the daughter of our former resident female Angel and our resident male Jack.

Quest and Kendal both at nest ledge today looking for their nest box!  crying

http://www.peregrine-foundation.ca/w/2012/10/sightings/quest-and-kendal-back-again-today-on-the-ledge/ Pics and report. Wish they would hurry with this work.

I'm not crazy about this either, I know it had to be done but the timing sucks.  Compared to last season, they seem much more bonded to the site now so let's hope that keeps them here and doesn't deter them.

I was on course today so I didn't see this until now.  I'm so sad to hear that she had to be put down.  The silver lining in this is that she has three beautiful offspring out there somewhere so hopefully her spirit will live on in them.  Fly free beautiful girl.  Cry

She fed a falcon to the eyas?? Oh horrors! Yikes!!! Just goes to show, a mom will do whatever she has to to protect her young. Thanks!

Was a first for me too.  I'm guessing it wasn't just a passer through, likely it was a challenger for the nest and given they had a kid to feed...  I've also seen a dead offspring eaten by a parent....twice actually.  In both cases there were other surviving kids in the nest box so I could only conclude that perhaps not to attract predators, they disposed of the body by ingesting it.   I didn't see it being fed to the remaining kids in either case.

A couple of years ago I watched a singleton in Michigan, I mentioned him before and we nicknamed him Sumo ...cause he was a little heffer  lol

Anyone one day there was - unbeknownst to us, a falcon intruder near the nest box.  Sumo had jumped out of the nest box while the parents were out of cam view and then mom cam back and started freaking out trying to get him back into the nest box.

Of course, we were all thinking she had lost her mind and was trying to hurt him - she couldn't figure out how to get him back in so she grabbed him by the cheek (he was a few weeks old at the time) and just hauled him up into the nest box cutting his cheek in the process.

Later on, the people that manage that site told us what was going on out of cam range so mom was just trying to get him to safety with her where she could protect him.  Later on - dinner was served and it was the 'falcon' intruder...that part was tough to watch.
