That's twice this morning Unity brought in prey - 6:55 and 9:44. Wonder if it was the same or two different catches?  Is this courting behavior on the part of the female?  

heh..well usually the male will bring the female 'food gifts' as part of the courtship and perhaps he did but that part was off cam.  It's believed that this food gifting shows the female that he can and will provide for her and their offspring.

She will sometimes leave or share the leftovers with him as well.  It's hard to get the whole picture on the cam sometimes.

Thanks for all the coverage!  Cam is blocked at work so exciting to see what is going on!

Yesterday while I was having lunch at work I looked up at the monitor &  Buffalo Bill our resident male showed off his jewelery close to the camera. After the fight last Friday I wasn’t 100% sure who was the victor but the falcon got up real close to the camera and sure enough it was 68 over r black over green the resident male Buffalo Bill. He looks no worse for the wear as both legs are working  just fine. The pair are exhibiting courtship behaviour.

(I hope the other tiercel is okay as well.)

Could be anywhere, so many falcons out there now...could be an offspring of Mariah or one of her descendants.  They nest where they can I"m sure!  We didn't know about the Y&E nest until one of the kids got trapped on a balcony and someone called CPF!

On a more positive note, Cheyenne is free!  Elimac has posted one fabulous photo of him 'speeding to freedom'.  I hope he stays safe!  I'm sure C&C will have more once they get home later!

OMG, they both died?? That intruder was probably pecking them! This is just awful, I can't stand this!!

That's one of the reasons I can't watch eagles nests.  The first and last year I did, one sibling pecked the other to death pretty much and that was it for me..and the parent just stood there the entire time.  I was told 'that is their way and the stronger will survive'.  They're beautiful birds but I'll stick to my falcons, we have enough drama of our own with that..no need to go looking for more.

Same cute face though, judging from the third s'cap Donna posted.  Be nice if you could get all 4 to find some peace and have 2 nesting pairs in Rochester this year.  One can always hope even it's a delusional wish.

Mystery male is back and Unity is bowing low to him again trying to entice him...  After Unity left, he went to the edge of the nest box.  I always feel bad for the new guy...he's hesitant and then by the time he feels safe, the resident male comes home and he gets turfed.

I read that over at BCAW, how very tragic.  Sometimes nature can be difficult to understand.

She looks a bit molty doesn't she?  I can see about 4 tufts of white sticking out of her.  Or she's been tussling with another falcon
