!!! Sheraton Hatch? April 30, 2011 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre Linda Woods Reports:
Yesterday Zoe, captured an image from the web cam with evidence that we may have had a hatch.
Small fluffs of down can be seen in the image. I visited the nest site this morning with a quick look through the view port. Only a few fluffs of down remain, and what appears to be small fragments of egg shell. Keep checking the web camera and perhaps someone will witness food come to the nest tray.

Breaking News from Tracy just posted on CPF..another egg!!! !!! Another Egg for Quest and Kendal!!!April 23, 2011 - Toronto - Don Mills Tracy Simpson Reports: I am currently on the phone with Bruce Massey who is on-site at 220 Duncan Mill Road and he was pleased to see, mere moments ago as she stood up, that there is another egg resting beside her current one. A few minutes later, Kendal arrived with food and landed on the ledge containing the nest tray. Quest remained on her eggs in the nest tray, not getting up for a snack, as this male is providing a great deal more food than she needs. Kendal has since left the nest ledge and stashed away the food for later consumption. From the vantage point that Bruce now has, he can see that there is actually two pieces of food tucked away!! One thing is for certain, Quest will never go hungry with Kendal on the scene!!!

would partenering w/ your brother be a disaster, genetically speaking?
In Winnepeg, the female Princess is now partnered with her son - Ivy, last year they raised 4 chicks successfully. Going back in that gene pool, there has been several instances of cross breeding and they must have good, strong genes as the line has not only continued but thrived. I know I've read of one case where brother and sister nested and had no successful hatches however in other cases like dearly departed James in Virginia - he and his sister were partnered for years and produced alot of offspring.

Not yet and no mention of eggs but she has just found them so I'm sure we'll get more information now that she knows where Polly and Algo are!! This is so exciting, I was so worried about her when she vanished like that, honestly I figured they chased her off but was afraid they may have hurt her inadvertently especially after she took the baby. I'm so glad she has not only survived but is thriving - obviously she's able to hunt well since she's made it this far!

My french is rusty but here is the gist of it:
Eve starts off saying 'we all remember Polly, the juvie who wouldn't leave the nest last year and who continuously interfered with her parents during incubation last year, she also to our great distress stole one of the babies. And here she is one year later, at 2 years of age attempting to nest herself for the first time at a newly discovered nest. Thank you to Sylvain Cusson who discovered and read our Polly's bands.
The most troubling thing is her partner might be her brother Algo. So far the numbers we've managed to read on his bands correspond to Algo's but have still to be confirmed.'
