Some very good news for a Good Friday!  The Canadian Peregrine Foundation reports that the Ministry of Natural Resources accepted CPF's plan to install a nest tray for Quest & Kendal.  The egg laid yesterday by Quest was placed in the nest tray.  It didn't take long for Quest to go to her new nest tray.  She was seen standing over the egg by CPF volunteers.

This is excellent news and we thank the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Canadian Peregrine Foundation for all they have done.

Thanks for the news Carol, I hope they can get a box up today and get that egg into it.  It's awfully cold here and she'll need to be on the egg overnight to keep it warm and a nice comfy box will encourage them to stay there .  Please keep us posted if you hear anything.

That would make more sense that it was an accident than she did it on purpose...I mean it's only been a day.  Let's hope they can a box up there tomorrow for them otherwise they may abandon the site after this incident. 

Wow...I have never heard of that before..abandon yes but kick off the ledge..never.

Yeah some of the comments in the article aren't exactly accurate.  We;ve also seen eggs hatch out on concrete just fine - there are alot of other factors to consider and although not ideal, it's not impossible.  And that egg could sit there for quite awhile and still be viable as we saw at the Pitt site last year.  I just hope they don't scare them off by going up now and that she takes to the box.  

According to this article..they want to put a box in tomorrow or Friday..I hope it doesn't scare them off and they abandon the site.

Might want to keep an eye out here, a new female has been challenging Dorothy for the nest and eggs are due to hatch this week.  The fact that the new female challenged her 4 times last week and a few times already this week is not encouraging.  She likely senses an opportunity as most would have given up and left by now.  I'm worried especially given Dorothy's age that the new female may succeed in weakening her and taking over.  E2 has been helping drive her off but she keeps coming back.

What 'eggciting' news    Now you'll all have to come to Toronto for two bandings 

They showed your website on TV    ...now Mark is talking about the transmitter and putting it on.  The CEO was in her office with her binoculars and they showed both Quest and Kendal...mating video..lol!  They also showed Quest in her scrape...looks like she has a nice location there!  The ledge is nice and deep and she's right in the corner so lots of room for her and the eggs and she'd have to punt them to get them off that ledge.  That's how it looked from the CEO's window anyway and Quest was in her scrape and you could see there was a lot of room between her and the edge.

Okay it's going to be on the six o'clock national news.  Just saw an extended intro to it and photos..poor Quest, they show the mating...is there no privacy for the poor girl    I love the intro '...and why foreign nationals are tracking her...!!

Just got home from work and Quest is on TV!!!  They showed previews of the 5:30 news and said "love is in the air' and there they were!!  It will air on Global National news - the local version -Toronto starts at 5:30 and then the do aNational newscast at 6 pm.  I will watch to see who airs it but it may be available on their website as they usually post the videos later.
