Spirit seems to be keeping her food inside with the eyases now under her.  Polly was in earlier terrorizing her again but she left peacefully.  I'm not watching anymore, I can't so I just check the various blogs as I'm too afraid to see her grab one of the babies.

I sent Mark an email last night too as I was totally freaked out by this.

!!! Important News
May 07, 2010 - Etobicoke - Sun Life Centre
Kathy Reports:

I have just learned that the male from the other site that Jack has been nesting at has been released this afternoon by the MNR.  He was released in Mount Nemo and there is a chance he may decided to head home to his former mate.  Should that happen, there is potential for  conflict between him and Jack.  Let us hope it doesn’t come to that particularly with a possible hatch occurring today here.

Mariah did it! Oh boy.

He was home by noon today just as I knew he would be, the MNR thought otherwise but I knew because of what happened to Mariah!

I was at the site this morning and Jack was with Angel at our site during the storm - gale force winds and rain we had this morning and yes I stood out in that!! -.  I left about 11:30 as the wind was too strong and I was cold and soaked.  I got home at noon and opened my email and had an email from the other site saying Milton (that's what they've named him) was positively ID'd at their site at 11:30!!!  They have a photo up of him at the site on their old nest ledge they took showing his bands.

TR Mom (who has no name) was on her eggs so they dont' know if the two met up but I expect he found her as he'd be calling to her.

Mathew just emailed me a half hour ago and Jack is now over there at their site as a hatch is expected there this weekend too - once again we are guesstimating as no cam there either!.  No sign of Milton but he said Jack looks relaxed and was perched calmly on the ledge there.

Perhaps Milton being in rehab for a year won't be itching for a fight and with his old mate on eggs, he may just bide his time and lay low for awhile or we'll see some fireworks soon.  I will be out there tomorrow to see what I can see if the weather clears up!

Doesn't this just break your heart?? Here we are, awaiting every word and image that comes from "our" falcons, and somewhere else, this happens. How do "people like us" get the message across to "people like them"?

B.

Sadly you don't.  You can't reason with people that have no ability to think critically or to think for themselves.  Like Bobbie says 'something is missing in their psyche', they only see in black and white, no shades of grey for these people.

Tragic news here tonight.  Looks like Polly may have taken one of the babies and they suspect she ate it.  Eve has just posted it on her blog.  crying Cry

She is still around Donna.  Yesterday morning she came in screaming her head off and mom left her alone with the new chick for a minute.  She poked at the chick gently a few times and then looked from the eggs to the chick several times as if she was having an ephiany and then she took off.  It was scary and cute at the same time  surprise

I fear the male is steril.

I was told that as well.  The female had many broods prior to this new male, he's been there 3 years now I think and no hatches since then.  It's heartbreaking, last year she sat on those eggs for almost 50 days...I wish they had given them the other 3 little ones that perished at the other site last week to foster.  But let's not go there.

First hatch was Friday night, second on Saturday morning and then one on Sunday and one yesterday.  They are under a bridge and the bridge actually lifts in the middle to allow ships to sail through.  BCAW has some photos provide by a local person there so you can see where they are.

Scroll down and you will see mac's photos!

Seems to run in the family, the attraction to this nest site.  On the plus side, she's Mariah's daughter so she's no slouch that's for sure.

Oh my god, I just saw that on CPF and thought Quest, is that you!!!  Shocked  This is such a competitive site, every year it seems, a new female seems to take out the old one...this is not the site I'd want for Quest.

!!! Stormin Spotted Not Far From Home
April 18, 2010 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre
Frank Butson Reports:
Thanks to an email from my friend Leslie Kinrys,I was alerted to a posting on the Tommy Thompson Park (Leslie Street Spit)banding station blog which reported seeing a banded Peregrine Falcon for most of one day perched in a tree, near their banding station. This sighting took place sometime between April 7th and April 13th.  The band number was clearly seen and photographed(a photo may be added later) which was black over black,30/Y. CPF was quickly able to provide the identity of this bird. The Peregrine was named Stormin, who was banded in Toronto at The Sheraton Centre  Hotel on May 28th 2009. It’s great to hear back about one of the Peregrines which CPF  helped band and is most rewarding for the volunteers who helped take care of the Peregrines during fledging time and the staff at the Sheraton Centre Hotel itself, who are such good stewards of their Peregrine family.

Donna:  Can you get to the main page of the site: http://www.falconcam-cmnh.org/news.php

If you can, click on Forum under the main menu; then select Cuyahoga County Falcons

and then Brookpark Rd. Bridge 2010  for Seneca's site.

Try to refresh it maybe?  Sometimes depending on speed of your connection, it doesn't load properly.  I get that sometimes too.

Rhea Mae ousted Wind but I thought Wind showed up at another building last year.  Does anyone remember this?

Not sure if she has been seen this year.  I hope so.

Wind appeared at Mt Sinai Hospital last year after a one year absence (it's not far from the Sheraton actually!) with a new mate however due to rooftop repairs they were not successful nesting.  I heard the repairs are ongoing for this year as well as the entire roof has to be replaced and given it's a Hospital, it's not something that can be postponed without jeopardizing the safety of patients and equipment inside.

She has been sighted though, a few weeks ago Linda said two were on site and last week someone saw one on site so not sure what is happening there.  Im sure Linda will update the site once she has something to report!
