Unfortunately I'll be in Buffalo for a conference.

Aw, I don't there is anything politically incorrect about describing a building as psychiatric. Buildings don't care what we say about them, and it was its official name. And it is a pretty strange building!

I don't think he was in the old psychiatric center. That is no longer in use. It is my understanding that he escaped from the new center, which is just to the east of the old one.

But the warning, in case anyone is still looking for falcons there, was still very valid - glad he is back in custody, and kudos to his family members for doing the right thing.

By coincidence, I recently met someone who lives on Merrit and whose house faces the research building. If and when our paths cross again, and if it seems appropriate, I'll ask her to keep an eye out.

Interesting how very domesticated they are being at the wrong time of year. Sort of like kiddies playing house?

But it certainly bodes well for next year!

Do any Kodaker's know anyone who works in that big building in the area where she last seemed to be hanging out? How about enrolling the local resident who welcomed some of you to look at her a few weeks ago? He sounded interested.

We understand, Carol. She was to the south of you, and you were looking south, so she was on the north side, right? Easy to get one's words confused!

Good point.

I'd been thinking, those downward pointing talons look a bit as if he's been taking ballet lessons. But, of course, part of the aim of ballet is for the dancers to appear to be weightless, as though they could take to the air at any minute.

Here's one thing I see as a problem with this forum. This is the 86th post on a thread that started back in June and still continues to run with a subject line that is irrelevant to current posts. I'm guessing that it is because many of us are hesitant to start new threads, but it certainly does make things a bit confusing.

I suspect that I am not alone in being unsure what the difference is between the first four major threads of the Rochester falcons section. (or are the called something other than threads at the higher level?)

I'm wishing that I could feel enthusiastic about it, but, try as I will, I'm still having difficulty. Of course, it does not help the forum, and acceptance of it, that there is relatively little to report right now, and that is nobody's fault. Perhaps all will start anew and with more excitement and joy, when the next season comes around.

When I asked that question about the original hack box in that location (no answer so far) I was hoping that perhaps some of the folks up there might still be taking an interest. As I recall, Mark Nash was involved in setting up that hack box, so perhaps he might know who are the people to contact in hopes of some pics or some local awareness of Quest's presence.

Yes, but if a string changes its nature, aren't we meant to change the subject line? (So as to avoid disappointment of undue excitement if it's about something else?)

Is the research building the big building on the west side of Lake Avenue that has an overhead walkway across Lake Avenue?

I see that when the Wesleyville Ontario Power Generation's plant was the site of a hack back in 2002 the plant's employees were involved in watching over the three young eyasses when they were placed in the hack box. Has anyone alerted them to keep an eye out for Quest? Was there an answer to an earlier question someone asked as to whether the old hack box iis still there?

Yes, I know.I thought there might be a place or two where they are not banded due to difficulty of access even though folks know where they are.
45  Rochester Falcons / Falcon Watches / Re: Unbanded Juvenile Peregrine at Kodak Park on the Research Lab Bldg - 8/6/09 on: 07-Aug-09, 11:14:29 AM
So... there's the question - where are the nearest falcon nesting spots from which the juveniles are not banded?
