I hope all will continue to watch for DC His life important also I know B is the big thing becsue of eggs, but DC may need help
Bev do you really think we would give up looking for DC? I spent 13 hours yesterday in the field to keep track of him and another 9 hours today looking and hoping he was alright. We Rochester watchers are as dedicated as they come for ALL our falcons. Please don't ever doubt that ok!? We know that MAK. I know how dedicated you are. I know how hard this is on you, too! I love all the pictures you captured of Dot.ca yesterday. In number 28, he especially looks exhausted leaning against the window. I do hope that he will be okay.

On the way home Saturday, I stopped in at Harlequin to see what Kendal & Quest were up to ... nothing really new, Quest was on the eggs - and Kendal was enjoying the breeze at the back of the Harlequin building while keeping his eye on robins & starlings down below. Patty Gale Eggs due to hatch this week! Happy news to start this week! Quest and Kendal's eggs may begin to hatch! Let the Hatching begin!? I hope for all four.

Must be DC on MMB 18:42. B was startled but OK at explosion. Ei
Hope all this commotion down in the streets is not bothering Beauty and DC too much. It's so fun to watch the action. Shaky, you are doing a great job of covering all the Spiderman action! Had the live stream on for my freshman study hall (all boys) today and they were loving the steam, and this was only setting up for the crash! They didn't even want to leave! LOL! Give a boy a crash and they're happy!

I took Cornell's Courtship & Rivalry in Birds course this winter. A young male sneaking into an established pair and adding himself into the gene pool is quite common in smaller birds. Before so many pefas were banded, who knows how often this might have happened.
I've been reading a book called The Nesting Season (subtitle: Cuckoos, Cuckolds, and the Invention of Monogamy) by Bernd Heinrich that discusses this and many other facets of bird reproductive habits. He's an academic, but I find the writing accessible to the lay-armchair-naturalist. Thanks...adding it to the list... It is an excellent book and totally accessible to the lay person! Read it if you get the chance.
