1111  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Pictures from the Rfalconcam cameras on: 22-May-11, 01:16:37 PM
Personally, I think Beauty's instinct knows something is amiss. Now she relinquishes more to Archer.

Does anyone know what is the longest time for hatch?

I  agree, Joyce.  B definitely knows something is amiss.   I wonder if instinctively she is giving up the eggs to keep Archer where she knows where she is?   Or am I anthropomorphizing again?
I was also just going to ask if anyone knows what is the longest time an egg has sat before a successful hatch.   I seem to remember someone posting about a surprise hatch after something like 44 days?
I know one of you has an answer  :-)

Must be Beauty.  Archer has been in the NB

For happy viewing, take a look at Rhea Mae and Tiago's webcam!  How fast the little ones are changing.  I just looked in and they are a pile of fuzzballs!  Their tail feathers are coming in.  Life goes on!

1115  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcons History / Re: Mariah on: 21-May-11, 10:29:09 PM
I just read it and it made me cry too.  I think I followed Mariah and Kaver and broods  on the Kfalcon site from early on; just not as closely as in recent years.  Mariah will always be in our hearts and our thoughts as we continue to watch her offspring and descendants go on.  Lovely story, Carol.  I'm glad that Nicole asked.
Tell us more!

(movie) Beauty can't sit still. Here ya go Carla

I am just wondering out loud, Donna, but I asked MAK too, after I saw her latest pictures that she posted on the blog, if Beauty's left leg is  bothering her.   She is moving around a lot, not on the eggs as much ...it seems Archer is sitting more.  And this moving about...could it be that her leg is bothering her?

In all seriousness, it will be what it will be.  No amount of worrying will change what is happening or will happen, so...perhaps this year will simply be the year to celebrate all the grand-eyases.

That being said, Beauty is right now dancing those eggs all over the nest...it ain't over 'til it's over...

Good philosophy, Ei!   It is not over for A and B.  But look at Linn, and the beautiful Rhea Mae, and of course our Quest!   (The tee shirt does need some serious up-dating!).  I love my Quest tee shirt...wear it all the time, but it's now 14 months behind.

I still believe in happily ever after.   Wink
Is this Lou's job?   Celebrate  the gene pool of Mariah and Kaver that endures in these wonderful offspring, and celebrate how lucky we are to be able to view the  grand-eyases.

B left the NB at around 1:16, and eggs still uncovered.  Can anyone look at camera 3 and see what is on the one egg closest to cam?  Is is just a feather?

Yay!  Good news for Linn and her hatch.  Thank you to Mark Nash and CPF for sharing.
Now it's Quest's turn!   Hope to see pictures soon.
1120  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Re: Quest and Kendal - Toronto/Don Mills on: 20-May-11, 11:25:38 PM
No updates on Quest? This thread is dying out. Let's keep it going!

Sorry meant to say, I know CPF is VERY busy with banding but doesn't anyone have a connection to the people at Harlequin?

I thought the same thing, Donna.  I check into CPF several times a day.  Nothing.
I am hoping that Carol or Joyce or MAk or one of the team who visited Don Mills in April will update us soon.

I may have to make a trip :-)  We're not sure what happened to Seneca from 2008, and now we're losing updates on our Quest/2008.   I am hoping.
1121  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcons News / Re: Unity's Nest at Kodak Park on: 20-May-11, 11:22:45 PM
If stress could be the reason Unity isn't brooding her eggs, maybe that's why Beauty isn't spending too much time in the nest box with her eggs.  Archer appears to be the primary brooder the past few days and when Beauty is on the eggs, she seems very unsettled.
I agree on both counts.  I think stress and perhaps her youth is part of Unity's problem, and poor Beauty, she has seeed so distressed since Archer's return.  Watching her with Mr. T this winter was  watching a much happier Beauty.    Perhaps that is the reason for the 8 day delay between first and second egg. I never doubt the intelligence of birds, and Beauty knew right from the get go what was going on.
Watch Beauty, she seems agitated and in distress, and I don't think I am anthromoporphizing.  She is quite restive, more than resting.
Let us keep her fingers crossed for a hatching.
1122  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcons News / Re: Unity's Nest at Kodak Park on: 20-May-11, 11:14:26 PM
What everyone else said!  You all did an amazing job following up on the KP and Unity mystery. I agree, that the picture from KP to down town is scary.   There is no way that those falcons  are not aware of one another!   I just hope that we have a hatch somewhere this year.  I don't see it happening at KP.
I only hope that Beauty and Archer can successfully hatch their brood at TS.
Thank you, team, for some answers.

I am still a fan of Pale Male, and I like your comment about ..."they went on being red tails...there is a lesson in that".  Much wisdom here!

1124  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Pictures from the Rfalconcam cameras on: 20-May-11, 09:10:50 PM
  Beauty's back.

Just catching up since this afternoon.  Beauty was gone most of the day, came back for a little time, and then off again?  Something amiss.   She is on alert for her nest and her territory.  Watcher out there...bless you...what do you think is going on?
1125  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Pictures from the Rfalconcam cameras on: 20-May-11, 03:31:26 PM
I think someone commented earlier today that B has not been on the eggs as much since the run in with Unity the other day.  I know yesterday and today, she left the NB early, and Archer is spending more time on the eggs.  She was gone for a long 4 hours early this morning, then she returned for a short while, and the last time I saw her today, she was on the eggs from about  11:40 until 12:35.   Archer came in at 12:47 and has been incubating since then.
Are any watchers seeing B around town?  Is she on high alert?
