I was just going to post how pretty and dry it looked at the NB downtown when Carol posted about the rain at KP.  The pic from the cameras downtown looked the clearest and driest that I've seen in a few days.
Beauty looked peaceful on her eggs.
1142  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcons News / Re: Beauty and Unity Throwdown at Kodak Tower? on: 18-May-11, 08:27:21 PM
This reminds me of something that Mark Bezinque reported 9 days ago.

About 10 minutes ago I was meeting with someone in my office, telling him about the falcons. Just then one flies by the window, and the person I was meeting with said there were two. The two began to fight, engaging in a locked death spiral just to the south of Broad Street over the river. Beauty took off from the nest to join the fight.

Had to be one of the more spectacular sights I've seen out my window.

That's right!  There is so much going on...not just with our falcons, that it's hard to keep track!    I remember reading Mark's post.   Yesterday was not the first time...probably...for B and U to meet.

So I wonder if this means that it was really Beauty and Unity were in a battle and Archer joined or Archer and Unity were in a battle and Beauty joined.

And so we are left with the two important questions of the day:  WHO is battling  and WHO  is cheeping?!
Oh wait!  And when will the eggs hatch?   Three important questions of the day!   tired

I agree with Lord G that its all chromatic aberration and compression artifacts.

I'm surprised that the two of them got into a fight on Kodak Tower.  Why should two falcons land there and fight on the ledge rather than do some aerial sparring to establish a territorial boundary?  Does someone want to nest there?  Ideas?

Paul

I saw Unity yesterday at 3:45 pm and she was sleeping, head tucked under her wing.  Last night Dana and I watched her for a couple hours and she was flying around and landing.  She seemed fine.  MAK saw Beauty flying around this morning.  So it looks like all well, at least at this point.  Whew!

WHEW is right!  Thank you all for your reassurance about our ladies in waiting.

Is that blood on Unity?
I wondered the same thing, Donna, but didn't want to say.  Actually, I wasn't sure of what I was looking at on the ground underneath them and what appear to be a ledge.  I was unsure if it was my computer or the light etc.    Is anyone else wondering the same thing.
I think watchers saw Unity after that.
Looking at the pictures today, Archer and Beauty are both in and out of the nest box.
When I looked at the archives from yesterday while was on the eggs from 12:30 - 4:11, he seemed jumpy and very protective of the eggs.
I hope all is well at TS building and at KP.

I just looked at the main cam archive from yesterday and it looks like B left the NB shortly after 12:30 but didn't return until 4:11.   Did anyone else see that too? She was gone along time.

Darn.  I see the reddish band.  So glad the Kodak folks saw this and let us know.  Unity needs to stay at Kodak and hopefully will be busy with her own eggs.  Ok, I know it is nature but that darn Archer has been at the root of territorial squabbles, now, with two females. At least Unity is ok; we know from Mariah, that Beauty can do a lot of damage

The bands are pretty clear from the pictures.  Scary pictures, but I agree that if either one wanted to inflict lethal damage, she  could and would.  I hope the eggs hatch for Beauty and Unity starts hard incubation soon.    We really don't have  any idea of when Unity's first egg arrived?   Did n't some report from a Kodak Park worker say that there might be two?    If she is out and about, then a third egg is possible?
It would be tragic if something happened to either one.
I agree, "that darn Archer".
I thought Beauty's eggs would start to hatch by today.   Let's hope!   pray

More Quest pictures taken at Cape Cod by John Kaar:

So fun to see Quest in her juvie plumage.  She HAS to be the most photographed/tracked Pefa ever!
We have her egg to egg!

There was a photographer that photographed Quest when she was in Cape Cod by the name of Shawn P. Carey.  Here's the link to his album:

Thanks for posting these, Kris.  I don't think I've seen them before.  Maybe one of them?
Gorgeous pictures of Quest only a few months after she had been hatched.   If these were taken in August of 2008, she was only three or four  months old at the time.   Special pictures.

1151  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Unity & Archer at KP - Pictures.............. on: 17-May-11, 08:47:05 AM
Wanted to post a couple pictures from the Kodak Park nest site.  The first one is Archer and Unity copulating on one of the stills and the 2nd one is Unity at the scrape.

Looks like a nice enclosed space.

After listening to the news this morning, perhaps Archer's name is really "Arnold"!

I play clarinet, flute, and saxophone - and a little piano and guitar.  And I adore birds!
