1261  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Pictures from the Rfalconcam cameras on: 17-Apr-11, 03:55:20 PM
I wasn't sure where to ask this question, but I'll start here.  The PPH, the Pigeon Box, and the nook.  I think they were identified in the pic posted, but I'm still confused when I see them mentioned in a tweet.  Are PPH and Pigeon Box the same thing?   Is that thought to be a nest site by watchers at KP?
Is the nook just a hiding area at KP?
So many things are familiar, but not KP ...at least to me.  And, I've been there (only once) and I've looked at the photo, but ???
It seem A is at NB more often, is he still visiting LP at the "still"?
1262  Rochester Falcons / Rfalconcam Now / Re: Sexy time on Mercury on: 15-Apr-11, 08:00:54 PM
More inappropriate behavior in public just now by our favorite pair of falcons atop Mercury.

This has to be one of my most favorite posts!  Thanks, Mark!!!!!

I don't know what we are going to do with them; they have no sense of decorum Wink

I see a new Harlequin Romance coming.

Great title.

If we can see this great picture of Quest's scrape now, does that mean if and when eggs arrive, we will be able to see pictures on a regular basis?  I'm assuming  that these shots are being taken from the office of Harlequin Enterprises?   That would be so fortunate if that is the case. The CPF site says the CEO is an avid birder.  What more luck could we ask for?

same egg?

Is it the same egg that was out before?  Is that damage on the egg or just a piece of feather?

I wondered the same thing, Carol, about the transmitter...if it would hinder mating activity or not.
If copulation has been seen, I guess it doesn't.  My understanding of the transmitter is that it would fall off before this.  It's going on three years.  Is this a record for a transmitter being of a Pefa?
It's been wonderful for us to be able to track Quest for these  almost three years.  Are there pefas out there wearing these backpacks for a longer time?  Just curious.

If anyone is a fan of Kathryn Shay -- a Harlequin Romance author, let her know.  AKA Kathy Schaffer, a retired Gates-Chili  English teacher who is a best selling author for Harlequin. Many of her novels have a Rochester setting/feel.  Here is her next best seller in the making...   Who posted "Falcon Quest"?  Send the idea on to Kathy.
1267  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Quest and Kendal - Toronto/Don Mills on: 14-Apr-11, 08:55:12 PM
This is such exciting news about our Quest  - finally settling down with Kendal.  I remember those posts.
And what luck to find an avid birder who recognized what she was seeing and share the news.   Quest is certainly an interesting bird to follow.   I hope the kids from Hilton  school  who named her in 2008 are still following her adventures.

 watcha looking at?
I think this is such a cute picture. It's Archer isn't it?
1269  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Pictures from the Rfalconcam cameras on: 13-Apr-11, 08:06:16 PM
Ei, the fact that Beauty is doing the majority of the sittiing....is that in itself, unusual?   I guess I never paid quite so much attention to it as now.  Don't the females do the majority of the sitting?  I remember seeing the chart from last year, and it struck me as, "yeah, that seems right."  But now there is a whole new ball game.   I know that Mariah and Kaver shared duties, and he was a good provider.  Is there a visible difference in what you are seeing?
1270  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Pictures from the Rfalconcam cameras on: 13-Apr-11, 07:52:58 PM
I hope Beauty can find some cached food. She has to be hungry by now. Archer stopped by briefly and took off. What's up with that boy?

I've been wondering the same thing myself today.  Seems Archer and Beauty are sharing egg sitting duties.   Or is it just the times I check in?   Is anyone tracking time Archer is at NB versus time he is at KP?
Does he have a schedule of sorts where he is at NB or at KP?   It seem to me that he does, but who knows for sure?  Will he be able to provide prey for both sites if both sites produce young?  I know there are many unknowns, and this is new for all of us, and now...there is Quest to track as well.   What a year!
1271  Rochester Falcons / Rfalconcam Website News / Re: New Features for 2011 on: 13-Apr-11, 10:40:09 AM
It's true DoggyMom, it's not as clear as last year. Maybe Shaky can explain why. gum

MAK, I have to agree that the pics - even the still cam views, are not as clear as they were.  It seems to have worsened in the past few weeks. I  think the pics were clearer this winter -- both at home and at work.  I thought it was my eyes!    The pics  (or maybe it my eyes) are lacking the sharpness they previously had.
1272  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Pictures from the Rfalconcam cameras on: 12-Apr-11, 07:52:52 PM
I agree with you, he is so cute.  He reminds me of his grandfather.
Archer is spending a good bit of time on the eggs; could this mean that he is not visiting LP at KP?
Also, since both A and B are spending more time on eggs, is this considered "hard incubation" -- meaning there will not be any additional eggs?
Wouldn't it be wonderful if there were lots of Archer's offspring flying the skies this summer?
1273  Anything Else / Totally OT / Re: Welcome Tracy Simpson on: 12-Apr-11, 07:40:11 PM
Welcome, Tracy.  Thank you for sharing the informatin about our Quest!   She is carrying quite a legacy, so it's great to hear it going on.

Thank you to all at CPF and here who seem to have sent out this news so quickly.  I track Quest, but somehow missed the non-movement of the past few days.  So thankful to hear she is well.

How appropriate that the CEO of Harlequin Enterprises spotted our Quest.  I believe that is the headquarters for the Harlequin Romance series books.
Between our wanderer,  Quest,  finally settling down for a "fine romance",  and our "Big Love"  polygamist, Archer, do you think it's time to call in The Discovery Channel?  I see whole series here.

1275  Rochester Falcons / Satellite Tracking / Re: STOP THE PRESSES:Hot off the email!!!! Confirmed Sighting Of Quest!!!! on: 12-Apr-11, 03:51:31 PM
From Mark Nash of Canadian Peregrine Foundation:
Hi Frank
Just received a telephone call from Bruce who is now at the Don Mills site and can confirm that two peregrines are visible, one is a satellite tagged bird, and both birds are very much alive and well.   It is very probable that the satellite tagged pefa is Quest!
He is now pursuing the contact information that we were provided in an effort to gain access to their suite to see if he can get better visuals from this higher elevation.

clap
WOW!   All this good news!  I am thrilled to hear that Quest is out and about, seen with a possible mate, and from the readings, may be settled down!   Time to update the Quest tour tee shirt!
