Question: I know, Donna, that you can answer this question in a nano-second, but can anyone refresh my fading memory as to when "Mr. T" first appeared on the scene?    Was it this fall, or early winter?
He has changed, and matured so much in the ensuing months, that I'm wondering if he was a juvie when he first appeared, and if our Beauty has indeed been a "Mrs. Robinson"?
1352  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Re: Seneca Sighted at Brookpark Road Bridge with a Mate! on: 08-Mar-11, 07:35:05 PM
I would like to think that Seneca has moved on to a better nest site.  These Pefas are pretty smart about that.  Bad nest site and loss of young probably sent her on her way.  I truly hope she shows up at a safer nest site sometime soon. - Carol P.
Given Seneca's great genes, I also believe that she has moved on to a better nest site and better life! I believe --  as Carol does-- that we will see Seneca again.  Smart  gal!

Key your eye out for a 3rd!!!
Are there THREE PeFas in Rochester?  ???
Annette , I can't answer for Donna for sure, but I think she meant for Mark to keep his eyes out for the return of Archer.  We are waiting with baited breath for the return of Archer.     But there are a few other Pefas around the city too.

Ok, so I'm not sure what happened at the nest earlier but let me tell you, it didn't sound pretty. I sure wish I could see on the cams where it came from. It sounded right there. I'll never forget it and I'm still shaking.

What a morning you have had, Donna-Girl! You poor thing! Will we ever discover what you heard?

Probably not and I was the only one on Live stream. K, I'm crazy!

Can Shaky go back and get Archive sound?

Posted today on CMNH:

"There were two peregrine falcons under the Brookpark Rd. bridge last night. It was getting to dusk when I stopped to check after walking the dogs, but there were definitely two peregrines on the bridge support. I am sorry I didn't have the scope to try and ID them!
Have a great day!

Lisa"

I do hope it's Seneca!

Me too!  Grin heart

ditto ditto ditto :ditto:May I say triple dittoes?  Let it be Seneca!   Let Archer return.  Let Quest Be successfufl in her "quest"...  Mariah and Kaver?  Bless you for all of this ...keep an eye on them all, and let this be a fruitful breeding season for our falcons.
1357  Other Nature Related Information / General Nature Discussion / Re: Soccer fans are crying fowl over kicking an owl on: 02-Mar-11, 08:35:53 PM
Kick that fool, Luis moreno.  It made the news here on 1180 WHAM, in Rochester, NY on the Bob Matthew's sports show tonight.    Bob mentioned the incident at least two or three times.   That poor owl suffered for at least 30 hours before it passed away..  according to Matthews.   And it was being cared for after that moron Luis moreno kicked it.
What will Moreno's consequences be?  How else can outrage be registered against this heinous act?

Gorgeous bird.  Just what IS it?
1362  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Pictures from the Rfalconcam cameras on: 23-Feb-11, 09:44:16 AM
Mr T at nest, no Beauty.
A few tweets back, MAK mentioned that it is the male that selects the nestbox.  I don't think I was aware of that with the Pefas.  I think I knew that based on songbird activity I've seen...it seems Male Cardinals do that, but i did not know that about the falcons.  So if Archer returns, there will be a battle if Mr. T has also selected the site?  From your reports it seems Mr. T has come  a long way from the bird begging Beauty to share, to  "flights of fancy" with her.

It is staying light out longer, and at 6:18, it was still sort of light out.   Could that be the difference?
1364  Other Nature Related Information / Falcon Web Cams / Re: Buffalo Falcon News 2011 on: 22-Feb-11, 10:24:00 PM
With so many nest sites in Buffalo, they are going to need a lot of help on their Watches.  If you live in or near Buffalo, please consider helping out.  You can leave a message here or contact Sage.  Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.  Those young fledglings can get into so much trouble on those first flights!
Carol, maybe you and Joyce and Kathy should take  your wonderful pictures and slide shows to the media in Buffalo.  Put the pictures in the Buffalo News, on their website, on the news programs.  Maybe it just needs to be publicized a bit more in Buffalo.

That's a great idea Margaret!

I agree, word must get out. Some of the Rochester people need to know too, especially City Hall guards!  harhar
I agree with Donna.  Rochester needs more publicity too.  Who has a PR  background?   Who can taol to Marcotte at D and C?    The words needs to be spread, not only in Buffalo, but in our own city too.

Brian reported:

5:04pm -1 falcon on rail, 1 on ledge below
5:17pm -1 on SW corner of HSBC and the other on SE corner
5:21pm - Both falcons left heading west towards Mercury or TS
5:27pm -1 falcon on 5th column Xerox

Interesting behavour.  It's been awhile since they've been seen on those buildings.

Carol P.
Do we know which falcons these are?  Banded?
