With so many nest sites in Buffalo, they are going to need a lot of help on their Watches.  If you live in or near Buffalo, please consider helping out.  You can leave a message here or contact Sage.  Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.  Those young fledglings can get into so much trouble on those first flights!
Carol, maybe you and Joyce and Kathy should take  your wonderful pictures and slide shows to the media in Buffalo.  Put the pictures in the Buffalo News, on their website, on the news programs.  Maybe it just needs to be publicized a bit more in Buffalo.

Isn't it getting close to the time that Archer should be returning??

Maybe he'll come home early this year. Last year mid-March. He was late. With the warmer weather, who knows.
Did Archer first arrive in Rochester the previous season (Feb. of 09?). Isn't that when all the drama began?  And when poor Mariah was injured in April?
1368  Rochester Falcons / Satellite Tracking / Re: Quest at Kingston- In The Flesh! on: 18-Feb-11, 12:09:56 PM
Quest was at Prince Edward Point yesterday. She has been in that general area for the last few weeks.

Congrats on your first post, Penelope99!

Welcome, Penelope.  Are you in a place where you can actually see Quest -- in the flesh?
That's great!.. Keep us posted on her wander -er.  Those kids at Quest School certainly picked the right name for her.

The question is who then?

You'd think with all the nests we follow we would have heard of a peregrine getting a transmitter last year.  Odd.
Maybe it's not a Pefa.   Look at the gull that was spotted with a transmitter.

Amazing video.  They certainly roll with the punches don't they?   Isn't nature wonderful?  Are birds resilient?   No wonder we are fascinated by them.

The visibility, today, as I drove through Rochester was bad.  I've been doing a  lot of driving between Greece and Victor in the last few months. Big difference!   As I approached the city this morning, from the West side, the visibility was bad, and I thought of all of our falcon watchers.   There were three cars off of the road -- that I saw -- and  I knew our watchers were still out there.  So thank you, again, to all of our watchers.    The sun came out later but it was tough this morning.

Donna - I haven't had a furry pet in a while, but I have had many feathered friends/pets and I share your sorrow in losing a beloved family member. Your beloved Bucca will be waiting for you on the other side of Rainbow Bridge.  Of that, I am a firm believer.  We will all be united one day.  All of us reading your words of keeping Bucca alive know that  pain and love you felt, and know that you did the right thing...as painful as it was.   Treasure the memories of the days you shared.  Lucky Bucca to have had you!  My deepest condolences.  Time does heal, but memories keep us going.   I lost my  18 year old Winnie-bird three years ago.  After many years of egg laying problems and  her heart disease and  fighting to keep her going, she waited until I got home from work, and died in my hand.  I know she waited for me, and is still waiting. The amazing part is that exactly one week prior to her passing, she was at the vet's office, and my wonderful vet snapped Winnie's picture while Winnie was on my shoulder.  That is the picture that I  look at every day, and I still say good morning to her each day.
Bucca knows...

wave @ Ei Yes I stayed here last May for them while they went to visit my sis in Arkansas. It was just the critters then! I didn't have to listen to constant fighting from 2 boys! @ Margaret you forgot the 3 cats that are also unruly. Have to catch them at nite and put them in the basement or they tear up the carpet and furniture while you sleep! @ Donna no playstation last nite for either one of them. There was definitely trouble in Paradise! I'd much rather deal with all the animals as opposed to a 12 yr. old that constantly bosses everyone around and talks back. Phew, is it Sunday yet!?

MAK! You brave woman!!! I soooooo know where you are! And yes, it is nearly Sunday!

MAK - After I posted I saw that I forgot the cats.  And now you say a Great Dane too!  Brave woman!

Uh, this would be the paradise in Nunda, NY about an hour south of Rochester. My sisters boy and his wife went on a cruise to the Bahamas and asked me to watch their 2 boys,2 dogs,3 cats,2 horses and 2 fish. I'm pondering changing the name after this week though. My great nephews have pushed me to the limit! lol  Grin

Ah so!  You visited there last year too, if I recall correctly.

Those young-uns sure can try the patience of a saint!
MAK, if you can chase around Beauty and MrT and all the other sites in snow, sleet, freezing rain and sub zero wind chills, not to mention the heat of this past summer,  what is it to watch 2 boys, 2 dogs, 2 horses, and 2 fish?   A piece of cake! You can do it!!   But we do miss your reports.
1377  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Pictures from the Rfalconcam cameras on: 07-Feb-11, 01:08:06 PM
Archer had better get his tail feathers home!!!` Company is one thing but the nestbox is off limits!  gum

Ya think?!

I think Beauty is smitten with this young lad! Time will tell!
They do seem to be getting a little too cozy with each other!  Archer, where are you?   I think in the 10:45 picture, they were bowing to each in the next box.

1380  Rochester Falcons / Rfalconcam Now / Re: Photo=red-tailed hawk in Hen. on: 02-Feb-11, 03:43:58 PM
Is it a red tailed hawk or a pefa?  In the pic it looks small. Hope it's ok.
