Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Rochester Falcons on TV Tonight

Channel 21, Rochester's local PBS station has a weekly show called Need To Know Rochester. This week's episode, which airs tonight, will feature a story about the Rochester falcons. Viewers may recognize the guest for this segment... Airtimes are 8:30PM tonight and 12:30PM on Sunday. The spot will also air on WXXI Radio (AM 1370) Saturday at 6:30PM (sans video, of course). Hopefully it'll make their video podcast list too. Nice job, Jim! I tuned in on Friday night, and while it's obvious you are not comfortable in front of the camera, your passion for the falcons and love of what you do, came through! Clearly, your talents are behind the camera judging from your wonderful pictures. It's wonderful that you can get spread the word about "R" falcons so that others may enjoy and wonder at them as we do.

Has Quest lost her transmitter? No updates since May 19th and just wondering if there is no data coming in or TPTB haven't had time to post yet.
I was wondering that myself. YIKES!! Hope NOT!! I too have been wondering...anxiously about Quest. Any update at all from the transmitter?

I have a question about banding day. I keep wanting to say "last year", but I know it was 2008; I viewed all the banding day activities on-line. I would love to attend the banding day since I live close by and school will be out. Is it possible to attend, or is it limited to invitees etc. ?

Jersey City was not too happy about us naming the peregrines. What in the world would they say if we brought a cake to celebrate the hatchlings? LOL Love the cake and the hoopla. More places need to personalize these birds. Yes, they are wild creatures, but what the heck....
:heart:I think it's absolutely heartwarming to read about Frank making the cake, and Mark inviting the watchers up to his office. Mark has the best seat in the house for watching A and B. It's part of what makes Rochester Falcons so special, along with all the dedicated watchers who have kept us all informed for all these years. I got a chance to visit the bridge in 2008 and watch and hear M and K and the 2008 fledglings. I will never forget it, and I hope to this year during the fledge weekend.

Those crops look like they're going to burst! They're being fed well that's for sure! Beauty needs a bath she has pooh on her tail feathers and I think on top of her right wing. One thing for sure -- we can see a lot more with this new camera. I don't remember being able to see all the "graphic" details that we can now see while watching M and K. Those little crops sure are bulging.

The real Archer arrives, no food.
I know it's hard to determine, but is Archer providing any food at all? It looks to me like he makes a couple stops each day to say hello but that's about it. I know the female is the main caretaker but he could at least show up with some food to help her out. Yesterday it looks like he never came around after that morning visit. ???
I had the same question, Kris. It always seems that Beauty is doing all the work...and she does it darn good too She is so diligent in standing and shading the babies from the morning sun. Question for today, though, have they had enough to eat this morning? I haven't seen much food other than that leftover wing earlier. The watchers see a food exchange? Does Archer hunt and cache the prey?
