I'm sure you remember Kapi Reith...she has the Vermont "Kaver" plate. She hasn't been around here much because her senior pup, Sherlock, hasn't been well. Sadly, Sherlock went to the Rainbow Bridge today. Micla's A Study in Scarlett Sherlock 6/18/98-1/10/13 Goodnight, Sweet Prince; and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest. My deepest sympathy to Kapi in VT on the loss of Sherlock. May everyone meet at Rainbow bridge. What especially brought tears to my eyes is the quote from Hamlet, that I used the day my Winnie bird passed - and each time any sweet thing passes: "...and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest." Can we ask for any more? Wouldn't we all like that said of us when we pass? Rest in peace, Sherlock and all sweet things that pass.

Rhea Mae Watches Over Toronto City Hall December 24, 2012 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre Tracy Simpson Reports: I stopped in on my travels at the Toronto Sheraton Hotel in search of Rhea Mae and her handsome beau Tiago. As there is virtually no place to park, I circled the block and hoped for red lights at every intersection so I could scan the buildings. As I turned east onto Queen St., I looked over at Nathan Phillips Sq. and city hall but it wasn’t the skaters and festivities that caught my attention. There was a lump on the antenna on city hall. Rather than dismiss it, I pulled over and pulled out my binoculars and found Rhea Mae perched on the very top of the antenna! I circled the block again and this time found Tiago on the south side of Richmond St on a building so high I had to stick my head out of the window to see him! I parked the car and decided to take a minute to grab a few pictures of the pair. Rhea Mae was overseeing things at city hall and was clearly on the hunt. I could see her head swivelling back and forth as she watched events below. Tiago was much more restless as he flew back and forth from corner to corner of his chosen building and I could hear him chupping with each landing. Tiago was clearly excited about Rhea Mae’s current interest in hunting. As I left the pair, they remained in their chosen spots and although not as readily seen on camera, they are certainly home for the holidays!! Such good news for the holidays! THank you to Tracy for reporting and for Ei for reposting here! So good to see RM and T together for the holidays! Hope for the new year and new babies at Sheraton Centre!

Diamante was a regular gymnast today preening himself, looking like a pretzel at times. Gleig perched at the nextbox was very alert and watching us watching her. Gleig Diamante Thank you for sharing, Sage. This group of babies of 2008 are special to me, and I look forward to following more about Diamante and a new bunch of babies in 2013!

Just for fun, here's my Fledge Watch Report from June 20, 2008, the day Diamante fledged. Carol P. - Diamante Has Fledged! - June 20, 2008 - 4-6:30 pm Friday, June 20th, 2008 It was a very eventful 2 1/2 hours. Lots and lots of flying by Mariah, Kaver and three young fledglings. While Seneca still lingers in the nest box and Quest still runs around the playpen strengthening her wing muscles, Diamante gave flying a try. All day, we wondered where Diamante was. We could only count four eyases on the tower. Did he fledge? Was he hunkered down somewhere, snoozing? I believe that he did fledge early that day, as reported by Dan S. A very short flight out of the playpen and back on. At 5:30 p.m., we finally saw all five eyases/fledglings! Yes! Seneca in the nest box, Quest in the playpen, Zephyr on the left side of the nest box perch, Susan B on the southwest corner of the 19th floor and (drumroll please!), Diamante was located on the southside 20th floor of the Kodak Tower. I was so happy to see all five young Falcons. During my Watch, Susan B finally made it out to the High Falls Stack. Zephyr followed her and they remained there for quite awhile. It was a gorgeous evening for once, and I was joined by many Watchers, too numerous to name (because I know I’ll forget someone!). ;-) Tomorrow should be an interesting day. I’ll bet Quest is ready to be free of her playpen. She’s ready to fledge and I’m sure Seneca won’t be far behind. Carol P. Thanks for re-posting. I remember it so well!
