I have a question - why is it so difficult to see U's bands?    Is it because she is large, or more feathered?   Does she sit lower down on her legs?   Trying to figure it out.  She is a large bird!  

Margaret - I think it's because she's all squatty and poofed up in the cold.  It is extremely cold up there right now.   I'm not sure how much bigger Unity is than Beauty.  We always thought Beauty was bigger than Mariah and Mariah was a big girl.  :-)

I just lit a few for Beauty, and for all of the Falcons .  Up to 130 as of 10 pm.  Keep the way lit up for Beauty.

Donna, I am not a ROC native.  I have come to love this area, and next time you are up here, we will go to Eastman House if you have not visited there before.  I am thinking that maybe you have visted the Eastman House.  It is gorgeous, and he MADE Rochester what it is.   It should be on the list when people visit here...along with Wegmans!

U on main Cam

There's a girl who works at OCSR and she is on the stream chat now. She's on the 11th floor S side and she has a great view of Mercury, nest box and Crossroads bdg. She can't see the falcons when they land on OCSR but she can see the feathers flying. I asked her to join the forum. She's going to try from work!! She has twitter so maybe Shaky can hook her up so she can tweet when the action starts.

Bobbie just click on a unlit candle and click continue. Add a greeting in the top box, your initials or Bobbi in the second box under the greeting box, in the 3rd box below initials put RFC then "continue". On the next screen is a drop down box, find your country and click it. Under that box you can put Wicklow or keep it blank. Then put your name in the 3rd box on that page hit continue. On the next page is where you click the wick and it's lit. Then click continue, this is where you may exit as your candle is ready to go. You now have  candles lit...

Very sad news tonight over at CMNH.  Cheyenne's father, the legendary Bandit was found dead at the age of 17 years old.  Chad and Chris have just posted the sad news.

Fly free, Bandit!  You led a legendary and long life, and leave behind a wonderful legacy of peregrines to follow in your wing-path!   Cheyenne was just loosed to the skies this week, and many of your offspring are  soaring the skies.  Thank you for  the joy you brought to many who followed your life, and sympathy to your lifelong followers at CMNH and Chad and Chris.

Someone has been on the edge of the NB for at least 20 minutes that I've been keeping an eye on it.  Is it U or the unknown male?

Beautiful pics but brother and sister mating? That's not good! 

Polly and Algo, mates in Montreal, are brother and sister, Dorothy (Beauty's mother) in Pittsburgh and her grandson are mates-probably this goes on much more than anyone knows.

I don't think this is all that rare in the bird world... or even in the world of nature.   In 2009, Mariah and Archer mated (grandmother and grandson).   Maybe it is the strength of the bloodlines...survival of the fittest?
