I think June did great!  He tries to be funny (which does and does not always translate well) but she handled it great!

I agree.  She gave a great interview in the face of a lot of rude attempts at cheap laughs.  June's a class act, and a real pro. Lonsberry is not.

Paul

You got that right!

Brian reports: Female pefa was under SE wing TS building. She took off, can't find her. I'm warming up at library. She will go 2 box soon. Keep watching. 3:38pm

Checked the cams, didn't see any activity. Oh boy, she's getting closer.  Sad

Unfortunately, that was probably her MO.   Cry

I believe the bird I watched hunting over the river last Thursday was not Beauty, so the new female has already been on the TSB at the NE Wing and the gridwork between.

That's what many of us thought too.

I remember reading your comments last week, Carol, and looking at the pictures, but your words..."I think it's Beauty".  Something was telling me that you knew it was n't our Beauty.  The battle last Sunday- Super Bowl....there was a lot going on.  I do have a question...do you think Beauty was hurt last Sunday (Feb.5) or Tuesday?   I know she wasn't found until Friday, so my question remains, was she wounded and not found until Friday?  Who found her?   Sorry, I'm still trying to piece together what I read
She is such a creature of habit - and was always on the same perches...much to our delight, so her absences last week alarmed us.  And now, looking back at pics from the week before, she seems agitated. Do you think U was invading B's space prior to the battle that you saw on Super Bowl Sunday?
I know I'm asking many questions that you may not be able to answer, but you have so much experience watching our falcons....

Hi Margaret - The bird I saw on Tuesday, late on the old Changing Scenes Restaurant, I do believe was Beauty and she seemed ok.  She was preening and when she took off she flew just fine.  The bird I saw Thursday, I had a suspicion was not Beauty.  This bird was landing in spots that Beauty usually did not land on and did not seem as dark as Beauty.  But again, due to losing light so quickly at night, I could not tell for sure.

We'll never know when Beauty was injured.  I'm just glad that she was seen by someone who got her the help she needed.  Wish we knew who this good samaritan was.  I'd like to shake his or her hand and thank them.   handshake
Thanks for answering my questions, Carol,  And thank you to whomever was Beauty's good samaritan on Friday.

Sad No new news! Boo hiss and I can't stand Bob Lonsberry. He's a rude such 'n such!!! Just sayin'!  grumble

Yes, I tend to agree! He cut June off every time she tried to answer. I wanted her to finish the 1st question and he ran right into another... UGH

I have no idea why Lonsberry is still on air.  He is rude and crude and vulgar to most people he talks to (and I don't hear his show all that much...thank goodness). If that is his idea of humor....he caters to the lowest common denominator.
I caught it a few times when Rachel Barnhart hosted; too bad she was not on with June today!

I am blocked here at work too.  What did she say on Lonsberry?

Do other raptors fight to the death like peregrines?  This has been bothering me for quite some time now. Most of the back yard birds I'm familiar with usually settle their battles before any serious injury occurs. How will the peregrine population ever increase if one simply replaces another through serious injury or death? Perhaps this is happening because of so many nests in cities?? Sometimes it almost seems as if peregrines are determined to keep their population low. It's extremely frustrating to watch. I sure hope someone can post some good information on this subject for me to read.

Dot in PA

Good questions Dot and hope we get some good answers. The Canadian falcons seem to get along, know their boundaries. Unity went way off her boundary. Maybe some are more aggressive? I can't imagine the pigeon supply dropping at Kodak Park, so what made her come to Beauty's territory?

His name is Archer

SO true .Archer was around when Mariah was hurt, then last year with the two nests and now Beauty.

Thank you for the information, Carol P. Hoping for a good update tomorrow.

Yes, hoping for good news on Monday morning!  Keeping all my talons crossed for our Beauty.  Is she still at Eastridge or did she go to rehabber from there?     (Someone on Rachel Barnhart's blog posted that Beauty had been brought into Eastridge and the Dr. B. was first caretaker).

Thanks, Kris!  Interesting.  I think I forgot that she (and Don Alhart) are falcon watchers.  Lonsberry wants an update too.

She also posted it on Twitter and FB- said she loves following the Falcons!

Gosh I missed that and I follow her!  I just let June know that these folks probably need to be kept in the loop!  So  nice they follow them!

I follow Rachel, too, Jeanne. She does a great job on FB/twitter, and her own The ROchesterian blog.
Nice to know the falcons are being followed.    I've never heard Lonsberry mention the falcons, and he does get around quite a bit downtown.
519  Rochester Falcons / Falcon Watches / Re: The Rochester Falcon Watch Continues, While Beauty Heals - 2/11/12 on: 11-Feb-12, 10:25:19 PM
Healing thoughts go out to Beauty.  Thank you, Carol, and other Falcon watchers for going out in this -- probably the coldest, snowiest day we have had all this mild winter.

Your dedication allows us to witness the beauty and sometimes the harshness of these wonderful falcons and their lives.

Keeping Beauty in my thoughts,  I do thank you all.

Thanks, MAK. I am glad that Carol, Joyce, Dana and Kathy and you are all together!   Keeping Beauty in my thoughts, but you girls too!  It's hard on us out here, but you are the keepers of the flame!   Keep that candle lit.  We are with you and with Beauty.

Donna, are you hearing anything from any of the watchers?  I know Joyce, MAK, Carol, or Dana have to be with her...let us know.   This is so hard.
