The red-tail has been captured and is on his way to Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley in San Jose

http://www.sfexaminer.com/local/2011/10/injured-red-tailed-hawk-found-golden-gate-park

Wonderful to hear!  Hope it does OK and I so hope they catch the monster that did such a horrible thing to this poor bird!

Monster doesn't quite cover the description of the "person"  who did this.  BUT!  The good news is that I heard on the news this evening that the RTH was captured, and the nail "dis-lodged itself"  from  the hawk's head.    I think it's good that these things are making mainstream news.   I heard about the hawk on the morning news, and then the good news on this evening's news!   So even though this was a dastardly deed by some miscreant, if it's on the news,  people are aware, and maybe care!

It's very rare they catch the ______!!!  Sad

I like it Donna!   clap

Very Cool!  Between you and your pumpkin, and Carol visiting Susan B.  in Mt. Hope....I'm getting in the "spirit"  of things!

Maybe they are around and just off camera.  Kat, oh Kat?    Can you see them in the morning?  From your office?  Will you let us know...please?    happy

I don't know why, but I love to watch them preen  Kiss

Me too!  yes

I do too.  I like to watch my own bird preen. I think it's their un-guarded moment, when they can just enjoy being "themselves"  and not "on guard"  or "looking for food".  They're just enjoying being a bird!

YAY, finally MAK got word that tomorrow afternoon, she goes to the Transitional Care Center at Unity Hospital!! Not a good way to spend her Birthday but she's pleased.   clap

A GREAT way to spend her Birthday!  Her knee is getting tuned up.  As I always say (and MAK will appreciate this) God knows what He is doing!  Happy 53rd MAK!   XOXOXOXO

I wish I'd had a 53 thousand mile tune up on my knees (and everything else) when I turned 53. Happy Birthday to our 53 year old "young'un".  Hope you are enjoying the baby knee, and  get to enjoy many more years using that new knee!   Happy Birthday to MAK (Margaret)  and her new knee!

I wonder if Karen's bear was the shooter.

right, excuse me; I misspoke. If more bears carried tranquilizer guns those deputies would be alive.

Is this g

oing to turn into another one of those debates over the constitutional right to arm bears?

Just talked to MAK, she's in LALA land, almost fell asleep on the ph. She's been up and about but in pain, not from the surgery but her other leg and her arms. Hope she gets to go to therapy when they release her but that's up to her insurance and they are making a stink...(what else is new!). All tubes are out...YAY! We'll see what tomorrow brings.

She asked about the falcons! I said ??, none at nest today and not sure if Archer is still around. We know Unity is. Smiley

Sending good wishes to MAK!  Hope you are feeling better.  I miss your reports...I think we all do.
Beauty and Archer are awaiting your return.  Unity is still here.   And you are still at Unity!   How's that? :-)

Worrying is not permitted!

-The new box looks about the same distance from the edge as the old one-and Harlie did stay away from the edge
-The nest box itself isn't their focus now-the territory is.  They may be watching out for those big yellow headed intruders from a safe distance.
-It is migration season.  They may be defending the territory from migrants or...
-They may be on their own road trip at this point.

If I recall correctly, Quest and Kendal had already hooked up last year.

And this is Quest's map from last October...

The color markers are the end of the month...

Thank goodness for you Ei, and other "keepers of the knowledge!"   You always have the information "RIGHT THERE!" notworthy notworthy bow
