I tried using my cell a few minutes after the EQ, and also ran into "no service" problems. That concerned me too. I thought that problem was solved, but obviously it made me wonder "what if this was a real catastrophe?" I think, especially now as we approach the tenth anniversary of September 11, we are all especially sensitive to things that could happen. To not have service for a few calls on my cell today was alarming, and I hope that it is looked in to! Looking at the news tonight -- at the film of workers in towers in NYC and DC and vicinity -- my heart goes out to them. The terror that must have been overwhelming...I can't imagine. Thank goodness that so far it appears to be minor damage and some flight delays. May be always be so blessed. Next up...Hurricane Irene. I hope our East Coast escapes this as well.

I knew it!! Soon as I said he may have left, he shows up. I think Archer will stick around until his October migration date. Birds are soooo cyclical! They come and go on exactly the same date every year. In my back yard, for years, I had the same date marked when certain birds would show up and how long they would stay. For years! These were the odd ball birds who didn't stay around but were just passing through. It is like watching the geese as they pass over every spring and fall. I love to hear their sounds and watch their wonderful patterns whether they are flying south or coming back north. Archer will depart in October..that's my bet!

Cute video of Corbin, Ei. My conure, Doc, loves his wiffle ball too. It's become a routine -- I come home; before he comes out of his cage, we play "catch" with his wiffle ball. I throw; he catches. After a few times, he comes out. It's a routine we have developed over many, many years, and some day I do have to make a video. He has some fancy shots! Shame on me for never recording! He is one talented conure!

Just looked through the album ofyour Montezuma road trip. Unbelivable pictures, MAK! Lucky you! Each pic was fabulous. Are we going to have to rename this site, Ocam ? You and Carol are falling in love with the ospreys. They are gorgeous, but so are the eagles, and the falcons, and the waxwings, and the hummers, and the conures, and the cockatiel...etc, etc...etc. can we go on? :-) How about ALL THINGS BIRD!?
