Happy Feet - what a cutie.  I hope he/she continues to recuperate and somehow is transported to home.
Their life is hard enough.

Happy Feet was an  adorable film., and I own it, but for the true story, view March of the Penguins  it is truly inspiring.

Speaking of films about our favorite species -- Paulie
a fun film about my favorite bird - the conure.    Yes, they really do dance like that.

And a great book and documentary - The Parrots of telegraph Hill   I own the book and film, again about my favorite parrot - the conure -  and it's great.

Donna and Carly - thanks for posting all the interesting information on transmitter falcons.  Lots to read.
Lots to look at atht Falcon Research website.

So Quest is not the first.

How did they catch Miss Edmonton in order to remove the transmitter?   I wonder if that will have occur with Quest.

Beautiful pictures Dana.  11 Rochester Falcon Watchers received invites to this wonderful event.  Shaky, Carrie, Susan C, Tim, Lynda, Joyce, MAK, Kathy O, Dana, Lisa McK, & Carol P.  We were the special guests of Mark Nash and the Canadian Peregrine Foundation.  We were very thankful and honored to witness yet another chapter in the M&K Legacy book.

When it's your time Harlequin, fly free and strong little one.  The eyes of the world will be watching.   heart

Bravo!

Just catching up on some pics.  Here is a look back at Harlequin's Banding day.  Hope you enjoy !

Dana

I just looked at the pics.  Wonderful pictures!  All of them!  But I have to say that my favorite is Quest flying.  Gorgeous.
But it also made me feel kind of bad for her with that transmitter still on her.  I'm sure it is part of her life now as it's been on for over three years, but do when will it fall off?  Is this all due to the nailpolish?
Is Quest really the first transmitter fitted falcon to reproduce?

These pictures are so cute, Kat.  Thank you for posting.    Harlie has changed just in the last two days!  I've watched her so  closely since she hatched, but since Friday -6/24 -- I haven't been able to watch as closely, so all of a sudden she has the "pantaloons"  and the dark eyes.      I can't picture her without Quest by her side.     And I can't picture Quest without little Harlie by her side.  Quest has been such a good parent throughout this event.

Good for Phoebe Snow.   I read about her fall into the deep well last night, or maybe early this AM.   So happy she was rescued.

lurker  Sure wish I hadn't been a lurker that my first year. Would love to have seen those last 5 offspring of M&K flying through the gorge!  foxbinocs

I hear you, MAK. I had followed M and K for a long time on the webcam but never got downtown, but  I did get down to the gorge once in 2008 to chase the fledglings.  I remember meeting Brian and Dana and Lou and Jim I think...on the bridge.  They were so kind.  I will never forget seeing and hearing the fledglings and we ran around following and tracking the juvies .  And then last year I only got downtown two or three tims,  but my first was the evening that  Callidora decided to follow Jemison .  I think Callidora spend the night on the Wilder Building.  So I love to read your reports!

When is an eyas not an eyas anymore?  When it sits in the nest until its chest feathers become adult white!  And that's going to happen to Kate and Cinnamon, if they stay up there much longer!!  What a day!  They sat there, looking as if they might go...  They flapped, jumped in and out of the ledge, flapped some more.  And you think my hair was grey before!!  You take your eyes off them and they could be long gone, visiting some lofty building to the east, to the west, to the south!  Yikes!  But the end of the day found them sitting up there still, kakking softly at me, sitting 'way down below, permanent circles around my eyes from my binoculars, butt about to fall off!  Truly, I think they want to stay up there!  And who can blame them -- food delivered to the door, lovely breezes, shelter from the pouring rain!

Sunshine, on the other hand, is amazingly mobile.  I watched in awe as she played tag with her parents, kakking at the top of her lungs the whole way!  She is really a noisy one!  I never have to look hard for her -- she announces her presence loudly and clearly!!  And can she fly!  Her whole family tree would be totally proud of her!  She's fast, fairly accurate, energetic and proud!  I thought she had settled in for the night on the "S" of the Sheraton sign.  But come 8pm, off she goes again, tries for the top of the tall building her dad's sitting on, doesn't quite make it, starts around again and he takes off in a stoop, just misses her, and the chase is on!  Twisting and turning, Sunshine kakking her head off, swooping, reversing in a flash, climbing.  She's just the greatest!!  I just stand there in awe, holding my breath, wondering how all the people walking by cannot see all that's going on in their sky!  Actually a lot of people ask me what I'm looking at -- and when I tell them, they are so interested, quite taken by the whole scene!  If those two sit up there long enough, all the people of Toronto are going to be falcon watchers!  Bonus!!

Anne in Toronto

By the way, I took a series of photos of Cinnamon's rescue...  Linda put some of them in her CPF report.  If anyone wants to see them -- there are 14 -- I'll be happy to send them on...  I don't remember how to post them here...

Wonderful posting, Anne.  Sounds like you are having a ball with this fledge watch.  Great reports.

I actually love talking about all the Mariah and Kaver family tree.

Let's see if I have this right.  It's late and I have to get up early to get to Buffalo to check on the Central Terminal Gang.

Freedom is M&K's 1st son.
Archer is Freedom and Purity's first son.
Making Archer M&K's grandson.

Rhea Mae is M&K's daughter.
Cinnamon is Rhea Mae's son.
Making Cinnamon M&K's grandson.

Freedom and Rhea Mae are brother and sister.
Rhea Mae is Archer's aunt.
Freedom is Cinnamon's uncle.

So that make them cousins!  Hahahaha!  Don't you have a headache now?  I do!   silly

Nite all!!!
Carol P.

Should have seen my eyes after doing the family tree!   tired

And so many grand-eyases to do this year!   clap

That is what I thought of when I realized that Cinnamon and Jemison are related, and all of the other  hatches this year.   The Mariah and Kaver legacy is moving on, spreading and it is wonderful.
All of the gals love to cross borders; Archer is only crossing town!   happy

I knew you would know!   If  you think about all of the  bloodlines crossing borders it is mindboggling.
The falcons are wonderful for international relations. So are all the watchers crossing into Burlington and Toronto.  And Kat posting on our dual citizenship Harlie/Harley.

I spoke too soon!   WoW.   Donna, go back to 19:21 and 19:22 of the two in the NB.  If you toggle the switches it's really funny.  Only I don't know how to make a movie clip out of if.  I know you can do it!  :-)

(movie)

Thanks Ei.  Set it to music and we can call it the Falcon cha-cha...or Archer's Hustle!  :-)   thank you!

You're welcome!  It's easy...lessons another day, though!

I need the lessons.  At work I am always running to the technology people; calling myself the "techno-moron".

The picture of Cinnamon reminds of the Jemison's picture in the carrier when she was hurt last year.  Well Cinnamon and Jemison are related are n't they?
