931  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Re: Quest and Kendal - Toronto/Don Mills on: 20-Jun-11, 08:25:36 PM
She came back into  view. Did you see her?   She tried to get back into the tray again.  Every time she makes her way out to the edge, she turns around, goes back to the wall  and then sits in the corner facing the wall.  Does that make her feel more secure?
932  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Re: Quest and Kendal - Toronto/Don Mills on: 20-Jun-11, 07:50:14 PM
Or...to be airlifted back into the nest tray!  happy  She'll get there.   I think Quest tried to lure her back up by serving dinner up there, and not right on the ledge.   Looks like she's asleep for a bit now.
I hope that the banders can get to her okay tomorrow.

Harlie tried but just couldn't get back in the nest.  Sad

I was hoping you captured that picture. I saw it, but didn't get it.  I think she will get back in.

Isn't she something  - I'm sure she is a girlie - she reminds me of Callidora  wub2

Hope everyone has a safe trip to see the banding - please tell them how much this has meant to be able to watch her  2thumbsup

ditto wave  Yes!    I hope all the watchers have a safe trip to Toronto, and yes, PLEASE thank Harlequin Enterprises for allowing us to view the fun of Quest raising her little Harlequin!

What concerns me more is the window above where Harlie is now.  No shade or curtain on it

We do worry about these little ones, dont' we? wub2

Maybe tomorrow -- while Harlie is being banded, they will pull those shades closed.   Now that she will be running on that ledge, probably best to close.

YAY They adjusted the web cam and we have a wider view now!  Can see Harlie!
937  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Re: Quest and Kendal - Toronto/Don Mills on: 20-Jun-11, 04:59:23 PM
Isn't she a little early to be doing this?
938  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Re: Quest and Kendal - Toronto/Don Mills on: 20-Jun-11, 04:55:51 PM
You know, she may be ok. When I came back in, and looked at the web cam, it had stopped and she was in the corner of the ledge.  Somehow she made it over or around to the other side of the nest box where she is now.  I think someone wrote a short while ago that  they are instinctively afraid of the edge right now.  Hope her instincts are strong!
939  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Re: Quest and Kendal - Toronto/Don Mills on: 20-Jun-11, 04:49:50 PM
I'm afraid to look. You know, this morning, she was peering  or leaning over that scrape side and I had a feeling she was going to go over.     Can she get back in?   There doesn't appear to be a lot of space on that ledge.
940  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Re: Quest and Kendal - Toronto/Don Mills on: 20-Jun-11, 03:34:04 PM
I was just thinking ahead to when Harlie  fledges -- a question for MAK or Joyce or Carol -- those of you   who have visited Quest's ledge.  The building is not in a city block is it?  My feeling from looking at the pictures is that it is kind of a suburban office park situation.  What types of building, ledges, resting places are around for  Harlie once she flies?   And how many floors up is the scrape?

Does the height or lack of height present any additional problems for a fledgling?
Are there other concerns about the area?
Can one of you describe the surrounding area for those of us who haven't been there?   Maybe take some pictures on Tuesday when you are up for the banding?
thanks.

CPF won't be able to find bands big enough to fit around those fat legs.

laugh Legs?  What legs?  Do you mean Harlie's cankles?      Send in the Spanx!
943  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Pictures from the Rfalconcam cameras on: 17-Jun-11, 11:51:56 PM

What a morning! Driving MAK crazy again.

Gee, what a nice camera setup. Imagine what it could do with 5 eyases.   chick3
Figures we now have the best cameras of any site and no eyases to watch Undecided

Whaaaaat?  You don't like DRAMA?   Soap operas?   The eyases will come.  The soap opera element is priceless!   :-)  (Besides, all the grand-eyases are wonderful).

Smiley All is good with Quest and Harlie. Quest has fed Harlie twice tonight.   Harlie is going to have to be air-lifted out of the nest/scrape  lol
945  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Re: Quest and Kendal - Toronto/Don Mills on: 17-Jun-11, 05:23:54 PM
quick notice to let everyone know that has been following and watching Quest and Kendals nest site that on Friday morning, and throughout the day, the window washers will be on site to set up the swing stage and other equipment necessary to facilitate access to the nest ledge on Tuesday for the banding.

While you might see ropes hanging in front of the nest ledge, they will not casse any harm to the birds. The ropes will be nothng more than a temporary distraction from their duties.. Quest and Kendal will settle back into thier regular routines as soon as the window washers stage is set up and the human activity is off the roof area.

It is necessary to set most of this equipment up well in advacence to ensure that everything is working fine prior to the day of the banding. Any unknown equipment challenges on Tuesday would cause un-necessary delays and/or cancellation of the banding altogether.
