Sheesh, could that Puffin get anymore in it's mouth?? I think they are a very unique bird! Thanks Bobbie.
Long, long ago, in a galaxy far, far away... Rod and I went to Puffin Island, a wild and windy place off the Kerry coast, with some friends who were licensed ringers/banders. They had to lie on their stomachs and reach into the puffin burrows to get the chicks out and band them. I could only go just so far onto those precipitous cliffs, so I was the Chief Chef... they loved me! Even got to band a few puffin chicks - under guidance. AND when night fell, we listened to the sound of the arriving Manx Shearwaters... I swear this is where the Irish got the "call of the Banshee" from. Splendid critters! And a once-only experience. Lucky, lucky girl! Had to be an experience of a life time!! Thanks. My dream is to see the puffins up in Nova Scotia. Got up to Northern Maine once and was going to take the "fast ferry" to see them, but somehow never made it. It's on my bucket list...to see the puffins.

Good to see Archer taking care of Beauty and as she's accepting his gift - all is right in their world. I guess he's just solidifying his bond with Unity - given she's the newer kid on the block and he has to put some work in on that and with no kids to worry about, this is as good time as any to do it. He's going to be exhausted by end of summer with two girls to please and all that territory to defend. I wonder where he migrates to, got to give the guy an 'A' for stamina I've wondered if they have another nest site if/when they migrate to South America...don't many of the PFs migrate to there?

Its a shame about Irving, but life in the Peregrine world can be harsh. Having watched him last season,so abley raise his young and all it involved,I cant help but be alittle sad. That said I am thrilled the resident male is "one of ours". I attended Stormin's banding, and friends and I spotted Stormin several times in Scarborough over the past year. He is even the one I spotted on an a tv antena at the end of my block, photographed and ID'd. Now he is the resident male and stepDaddy of the young falcons. Its always amazing to hear back about one of our birds. I will be at the banding at Canada Square.
I remember that photo, BF. Wasn't it from last fall? Stormin on an antenna with prey?

A picture of Sunshine (green tape) by Linda Woods... !!! Still lots of fluff June 07, 2011 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre Linda Woods Reports: Photo captured this morning to back The previous posts observations. Still lots of fluff yet, perhaps with tomorrow’s heat she’ll pick it all out. How fast these babies have grown. Wasn't Sunshine the largest of the eyases when they were banded? How wonderful to see these babies this year with the new cam, and even better,to be able to see Quest with Harlequin! Balance. Sunshine, green tape

And LOOK, there it is! Poor Beauty. Not only that...she's exposed "Orville". Haven't seen that buried pebble in a long time! poor Beauty is right. For some strange reason, a really old adage just popped into mind - "some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue." Kind of twisted to think of it now, but poor Beauty is having a tough year. :-) She is strong like Dorothy.

Guys, remember to take a look at the FalconWatch blogs... I kept forgetting them, but have now made a point of checking every day. Always so much more in them! I enjoy them very much... and I dare say so will you! Let's give our early-morning and weekend watchers the support they deserve... not that you don't... but you know what I mean... (I will stop now...)
Bobbie, I believe lots do look. Always full of info from the morning and evening!! And great pics too! Before I even knew there was a forum, I always read the blogs. That's how I got all my information. But the reports and the pictures are always great.

I have been lurking but do check here every once in awhile. I really miss the days of Mariah and Kyver.
Beauty will find a mate and Archer will just have to learn to stay on the other side then.
Beauty will thrive. Falcons are loners by nature.
HI Joyce. I started off with Kimmarie at her forum in 2007, but watched falcons and eagles since 2005.
Are you the bev that is also on Bird Cams around the world? I just found that site tonight, and there was much discussion about our Rochester falcons. I had never seen that site before this. So I lurked around there tonight looking at all the comments about our ROC falcons. Keep jumping in.

Hey Margaret/All, Maybe I misunderstood, but I think you said there was a failed nest in 2006? 2006 is the year that Mariah severly injured her foot/leg. She had actually laid 6 eggs that year. A record. Archer was on the eggs and I immediately knew something was wrong when he ducked down his head and pulled out an egg shell. Imagine his surprise and mine! Kaver had never had an eyas hatch under him before. It was always Mariah. That year 3 eyases hatched. 2 of the 3 have gone on to successfully have young of their own. You may have heard of them. Rhea Mae & Sabrina aka Valiant. Hi Carol - I do remember 2006 when Kaver was such a good provider, but we were talking about 2009. I think we have ALL blocked it out. That was the year that Beauty and Archer arrived on the scene. Mariah was here but Kaver didn't come back after the glorious 2008 year. A and B tried Midtown - even though that was the first year of the nestboxes at TS and Powers, and there was speculation that perhaps they had a scrape somewhere. Then that horrible April day when Mariah was injured. So it was 2009 that Birdcrazy and I were talking about. Is Linn from that same 2006 hatch or was she 2007? Now it starts to get blurry. The family tree is getting complicated.

Tragic news from Jacks other site. First we thought there was one, found out there was two and now one has been found dead Mathew sent me an email and also just posted the news to their site. Jun 6, 2011 - Unfortunate news Around 5PM while walking my dog, I found a juvenile on the ground directly under the ledge. It was not alive, and obviously feel straight down to where I found it. I know from checking earlier this afternoon there were two on the ledge. So, sorry to say, there is now only one. So sorry about this, Carly. Fly free, little one. [/quo I am also sorry to hear this news about the little one. Fly free, and high, little one. "May flights of angels sing you to your peace."
