Yes.  It will be all over the place on Christmas Day and, I think, on Christmas Eve.

As I stated, this is an under the hood change. It is required to keep this site running next year as we continue to reduce our costs in these tough economic times. The fact that it is hard to spot is a good thing, especially for Luddites who don't like perceived change.

I asked the question.  That is a good answer.
Back in the dark ages, when the Apple IIe was the ultimate computer, I took a "Computers in Education" course.  Back then, most software was written by computer folks, who knew nothing about how people learn, and was pretty awful educationally.  The most important/lasting thing I learned in the course was to always ask of new software whether or not what it did could be done more easily, more cheaply, and at least as effectively, the "old fashioned" way.  The answer is not always "yes" by any means but I think it is still a good question.

If it is so difficult to find, do we really need it?

I am not complaining - just commenting, but you know what I saw everytime I looked at any of the logos?  A Philly Sports Team - football, hocky, baseball - didn't matter!  I kept seeing Philly!

 football   baseball

An interesting comment, especially to an ex-pat Philadelphian!  But it does point out what a good logo should do:  bring the concept instantly to mind.  A lot of creative thinking was shown in the entries but not always such good LOGO art.

Maybe they just seem to be appearing more frequently because only 8 of the cams appear to be functioning.  The St. Andrew's and Mackie's Crisps cams (both new this year) seem to be still shots that haven't changed since the beginning.  Has anyone seen a haggis in either of them?  I haven't.

Ok, this is just too easy...took me years and never found one, now every time I look, I see one.

I agree-I've already gotten 3 this morning.  Never found one before.  Maybe they were making it TOO difficult in prior years and people lost interest...

Ei

I don't notice much difference from past years.  I have always found a lot.  Never won anything but had no trouble finding them.  As much as anything, I enjoy watching what is going on in the webcams and, thus, preferred the ground level Times Square cam of the past.  Miss the Paris one, too.  The Eiffel Tower at night was stunning.  I already knew from a friend in Inverness that the weather in the Highlands was a mess.  Seems to be just as bad in Edinburgh.

Is there any way to enlarge those images.  I can barely see the detail.
Thanks,

Not that I ever came close to winning it but I am sorry that the grand prize is no long 2 nights at Gleneagles:  the British School of Falconry is located there.

Can you imagine being at Times Square (NYC, not Rochester, NY  lol ) on New Year's Eve?  No Way!   scared blue

I did it when I was in my 20s.  Definitely a been there, done that, check it off the list, and NEVER think of doing it again experience.

I certainly understand where you are coming from, Dot, as I, too, am now living on a retirement income. Given the current state of the economy, I am sure that many others are doing more penny pinching than they once did.  I have definitely bought, and generally donated, less this year than in the past.

That's why I DON'T like the skyline images, Ei.   Smiley At least, not for a logo.  I might buy a tee-shirt with that image done large but I think it is way too busy for a small logo image on a cap, for instance.

Since changing the logo for any established brand is dicey, I appreciate Shaky's explanation for doing so in this instance.  It will be interesting to see if the change makes a difference in sales.  I admit to having bought nothing with the current logo on it.  With the exception of some Birdorable items, my purchases have been more specific, like my Mariah and Kaver ornaments.  I don't think the images on any of the things I have bought would make good logos.  For me, at least, there is a significant difference between brand identification (logo) and what I choose for personal use or display.  I wonder if that distinction is shared with others and how much it accounts for the $100 vs $10,000 difference in purchases.  In any event, I think we need to keep the purpose of a logo (quick brand ID) in mind as we look for a  new one.

I, too, like #54 for the same reasons that Joyce mentions.  Number 47 is certainly personal but, I think, is too "busy" for a logo.  Maybe just one of the buildings?  My favorite for "feel" is still #54, if the image could be re-worked to make it less abstract and more identifiable as a falcon.

Number 54 is the most visually attractive one but...what is it?  I can't find the falcon in the graphic.  Looks more like an undersea creature.  If it was readily identifiable, I could go for this one.

Number 6 looks like a football helmet.
