I have no problem with the original and see no compelling reason to change. However, I went to the samples looking for something that would be simple and not so abstract that one would have to spend time figuring it out. None of the current candidates "said" anything in particular to me. I guess I'd have to say that the current logo has a history which, for me, trumps any of the current alternatives. Kapi in VT

A couple of years ago, we were having our annual Columbus weekend family gathering at my BIL's farmette in the Poconos. When we woke up on Sunday morning, we discovered evidence of a bear visit to the back deck overnite: bird feeders had been destroyed, nose prints all over the picture window looking out on the deck and a large "dump" just under the window. My great-nephew had slept on the sofa just inside that window. Being a teenager, however, he had slept through the whole thing. Kapi in VT who will be going to a nearby wildlife refuge on Sunday to see migrating snow geese.

OMG, I had forgotten about this. Paul, your editing is terrific. It doesn't look nearly as silly as it felt doing it! Kapi in VT
It doesn't look silly?! Sheesh, that's the only reason I want to watch! I didn't say it didn't look silly. Just not as silly as it seemed at the time we did it. Kapi in VT

I wonder if this is the same falcon who made a brief appearance around the Kodak tower on Sunday of Watchers Weekend...before being escorted out of the neighborhood by Beauty and Archer. I believe it was Joyce, Jeanne, Brian and Dan who saw the encounter with me from the pedestrian bridge. Kapi in VT

Tam O'Shanter - Tam O'Shanter is Robert Burns' most famous narrative poem about the problems of bumping into witches at Halloween, particularly when under the influence of drink! The neighbourhood takes its name from the Tam O'Shanter Golf Course (Wikipedia article on Tam O'Shanter-Sullivan, retrieved in May 2008).
While Donna is quite correct about the origin of "Tam O'Shanter," I associate it with a hat of the same name (and origin). They were popular for little girls back in the 30s and 40s (check Shirley Temple) and I had one that I was quite proud of. Fancy new things were a rarity during the war years and that is probably why I remember it. That, and the neat name. Kapi in VT as in this Kapi? Yes. Often, they are usually just referred to as "tams." You can see good, modern ones in tartan shops (real or online). Kapi in VT

That is VERY cool on several points: The Mink - most people wouldn't recognize one of those varments in the summer; that was a good-sized fish! [/quote]
I wouldn't recognize one at any time of year! Kapi in VT

No one has seen her hunt successfully as yet, have they? I kinda figured that she was exploring and would come back when she got good and hungry. Kapi in VT

This is the hard part every season...fewer and fewer sightings until you just know they've moved on. I think it is made more difficult this year because we are only following one. With four or five out there, one missing for a day is not as noticeable. Kapi in VT

I guess I am the last out-of-towner to make it home. After an easy drive, the predicted thunderstorms that never showed up in Rochester hit here in Vermont. It was a small cell, though, and the sun is out again. I haven't had time to read through all the posts as yet, so this may have been reported, but I need to add that the "stragglers" spent Sunday afternoon and evening on a nostalgic trip to the pedestrian bridge. We were treated to a visit from a mysterious falcon who flew in from the north. This was followed by Beauty and Archer flying down to check things out. No aggression but definite watchfulness. Since the bridge seemed to be a sort of boundary line, we were positioned for a good show. The welcoming local watchers, the other out-of-towners, the weather, the new location, and the awesome flying all contributed to a memorable weekend. Kapi now at home in Vermont
