I'd be interested in going too.

Someone had mentioned Jimmy Macs. Sorry, that's closed now!  Sad

I think I was the one who mentioned it but only to say that the nest box move took watchers to a better culinary experience near Dinosaur BBQ.  Still, it is always sad to see an institution go.  They certainly did a good business with falcon watchers in years past.

Handsome Dad...

He looks quite content and pleased with himself...as well he should be.  He was a total novice in the spring and now he is a competent dad.

A tailgate breakfast is an option for both Saturday and Sunday. We'd park wherever the falcons are those mornings.

I'd opt for Saturday. Getting everyone together at the beginning of the weekend would make it easier to coordinate plans for the rest of the weekend.
It is difficult for me to make anything to bring from a distance but, when I stayed there two years ago, there was a Tim Horton's across from my motel.  As we have none of those locally, I'd be happy for an excuse to stop there to pick up some goodies to bring.

I noticed that early on, Ei.  A culinary cut above Jimmy Mac's.

Glad to read that I am not the only one with "justa phone."  I will probably just drive around on Friday afternoon/evening looking for watchers, as I don't know exactly when I will get there. A meeting place for Saturday morning would be good, even if there is no "official" breakfast planned, to get all the visitors, who are arriving at different times, organized.  I am really hoping that a lunch or dinner at Dinosaur BBQ can be included somewhere in the weekend...I've been dreaming about that place for two years now!

Here's another Juvie's experience with Jem's injury for anyone interested in what may be in store for Jem. . . .  http://www.wildcarebayarea.org/site/PageServer?pagename=AnimalAid_PatientUpdates#peregrine  Click on "peregrine falcon".

Thanks for this link.  While I was disappointed in the five month timeline, it was encouraging to read a success story.

Got my shirt, too.
Arriving late afternoon 7/16, hopefully in time for some evening watching.
Departing morning 7/19.
Staying at the Super 8 in Henrietta.
Really, really, really hope the heat breaks by then.
Also, hope that Jemison is back in the sky.

Thanks for sharing, Lou.  I love a good fireworks display but, due to a string of sound sensitive dogs, I have not been able to enjoy them in person for quite a few years.

Don't forget the rehabber.

Shaky or Other Locals:
If I bring a collections of towels and blankets to the Fledge Watch Weekend, can someone see that it gets to the rehabber?

Just a very quick update.
Carrie and Shaky volunteered to contact Terry at Wild Wings who graciously offered some appropriate food for our young fledgling.

When I was in Rochester for the last Fledge Watch Weekend in 2008, I had the opportunity to tour the Wild Wings facility.  One of their major challenges is the increasing cost of providing food for their resident raptors.  While waiting for Jemison updates, you might consider visiting their website <www.wildwingsinc.org>, thank them for assisting Jemison,  and making a donation.

Thanks for the report, Jim.  And the photo.  What a face!  What talons!  If fledglings of the past could spend days at the bottom of a smokestack, I am confident that Jemison will emerge from this adventure just fine.  And it would not be a true falcon season without at least one heart stopper, would it?

No shaking here in south-central Vermont.  Maybe up around Burlington.

Haven't seen her either.  Though, when Archer came through, it sure sounded like both kids were in the area!
