BB was frantic and kept going over the board!  At first she wouldn't leave the box!  We were going nutsy on the ground watching.

UB Bijoux Day!  All four eyasses were big!  Will post pix from the ground soon with names and numbers, though I don't have the close shots.

I got my final shot of Stella on Mar 1.  The next CT shots were of Gleig and her mate who most likely attacked and forced out our original pair.  Our beautiful Stella had been up there on that roof since early March, probably the victim of a fatal attack.  I also had hoped they just got nicely convinced to leave, even though I knew Stella would never go for that.  I just didn't want to think of this kind of alternative.  None of us did.  We're all crying together.  crying

Remember when Yankee took over the University of Buffalo nest from the first male, Smoky?   I think this is Smoky trying to regain his nest when there were already three eggs laid. (Yankee & BB)  BB came back and tried to protect her eggs but one broke in half.

Shortly after the fight at UB, we saw a tiercel we think was Smoky attempt to engage the male, Stash, at Central Terminal but he screeched from the perch and Stella came out of the nest box and together the scared away the intruder.

So, the unnaturally purple squirrel may be the canary in the coal mine.

Quote
Krish Pillai, a professor at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, commented that "This is not good at all. That color looks very much like Tyrian purple. It is a natural organobromide compound seen in molluscs and rarely found in land animals. The squirrel has too much bromide in its system possibly from all the bromide laced frack water it's been drinking. I would raise the alarm. This could mean bladder cancer for humans down the road."

MAK, fantastic shots and you're so lucky to witness this wonderful bird of prey up close!  Keep the camera close and the battery charged!  Smiley

omg!   crying  not fair!  I know this is nature, but this is also what makes it so difficult for us!  Rochester's pefas seem especially hard hit.  As soon as I saw this news I felt my eyes and nose start tingling, the immediate precursor to the tears.
I know it's the weekend but I'm hoping someone gets some good news about Beauty.  And where is Unity?

I am sad to say that Connie received the confirmation from Barb Loucks today, that is was indeed and unfortunately Sabrina/Valiant.  I have been in contact with Joyce today too.  The end number of the silver  band was wrong on the hotline report, hence the issue and delay with a confirmation.

I am wondering if this was the pefa Roger and I saw two weeks ago at Central Terminal with a black/red band, although our pix were not good enough for an ID.  It is a possibility now that we know Valiant was in the area.

Wait!  May not be Sabrina/valiant

Oh, this is so sad that it was a Rochester pefa.  I was hoping not.  Fly free Valiant!
