Wow! We went to CT today and immediately spotted this bird right where Diamante always perched! Looked with the binocs, grabbed the camera, I hope, hope, hope... And I am sure enough to post it in this thread! What do you think, Joyce?

Thanks for the updates, Joyce! Here is more, mostly from Jacquie!

Statler - Four 3-day old chicks this morning

Central Terminal - Food delivery for Three chicks, one egg on Sunday

UB - Three chicks Saturday, one unhatched egg today

North GI Bridge - chicks seen by Thruway Authority on nest check Friday, unknown number but there were four eggs

Holcim - Recent female has green on band; was there for a week, male for one day, then gone; now returned

Old Cargill grain elevators being auctioned in early June. There may have been a failed nest there with the pefa pair going to Holcim. I do not know if the elevator can be checked for evidence prior to auction.

Niagara Falls - Jacquie has spotted where Diamond and Onyx are nesting this year, behind a pink panel in a window of the old power plant. No signs of a feeding yet, but a hand-off witness today!

It's going to be freezing here tonight so extra hugs to all the little hatches out there!

Yes, but apparently NOT the same female seen the last couple years. I don't know if it may be the same we think may have had a nest failure at old Cargill grain elevators so closeby. Holcim and DEC are in contact.

Another mystery Tracy Simpson, Roger, I, Carl and Jacquie are trying to figure out is at Niagara Falls.

Popular number! You have four! We have four at UB, CT, Statler and North Bridge! Counts unknown at the gorge and the grain elevator/Holcim. Let all the eggs hatch into lively little Pefas!

Eggs will be hatching soon and there will be more opportunities to get band shots, so hang on!

Quote
I went to Central Terminal at 10:30 and didn't see anything until 11:10 when the male flew in and perched on the southeast corner of the tower, preening. He is clearly banded, Black/Green. I couldn't read it but I am betting this is still Diamante. There were a couple of guys doing some work on the flat roof below the nest and the bird was completely unconcerned. He took off after about 20 minutes and flew to the south, circling high. Another PEFA flew into view and they were foraging in the same area for 1-2 minutes, but there was no interaction and the eventually went their separate ways. I lost sight of both of them. A few minutes later I heard alarm calls coming from the nest box, and when I looked back to the south there were a couple of turkey vultures drifting a little too close to the tower for the female's liking. They also drifted away and out of sight. I never did see the female; she was tight in the box the whole time. I left at noon and the male had not returned yet.
