They get another shot. They just mark them so they can keep track. Mike tells me that the ones they inseminate artificially are also mated with bulls to ensure that they get prego. MOOOOOO!!!!!!
Um, wouldn't that tend to defeat the purpose of spending several thousand dollars, in some cases, for a champion bull's frozen semen, then also using the resident Ferdinand for the same pregnancy? (Genetics-minded Cat Breeder wants to know...) Carol WV

Anything Else / Totally OT / Re: Christmas Traditions in Ireland

Sadly too many Christmas traditions have gone by the wayside <snip> One thing I loved as a child was singing Christmas Carols at school. Each class of children would enter the main foyer, older students whose classes were on upper floors would line the stairwells. We would have a sing along for about 30min a day. The songs rose to the roof and sounded wonderful. I have to dry an eye as I type its such a good memory.
I wonder often how many of us ever envisioned a day when the ubiquitous little John Hancock Christmas Carol booklets would have disappeared How much would one be worth today? Carol

Ridiculous! They spoke with the owner of the house who was home at the time. He said the guy never even rang the door bell. Just dumped it over the fence. My Son and I had a house fire in December 1996. (A rented house, bad wiring, fire marshall deemed it accidental) The insurance company sent a small advance check by FedEx, they SAID. No check, a couple of weeks went by. The check was one of those that's only good for so many days. They FINALLY issued a replacement. a month or so later, the package containing the original was found on the ground inside the locked gate in front of the burned out house. Carol

Won't work for me. Nor for me I think in my case, it's just that my old OS isn't up to it. But now my computer fund has gone to my local friendly garage, for a new transmission Carol

A question on FB asked if these dollars were shared with GVAS - I am assuming "no"??? because we donated to rfalconcam???
There was something on the online donation form when I sent mine, that offered choices for ?excess or ?overages... Alternatives anyway. GVAS was one of the options, and I chose it. Do we have a final tally of what had donated? Carol WV

I know one town had a roost of over 100000 crows they were trying to get rid of.
Some ten or so years ago, the citizens of Leesburg, VA, had become quite concerned about the numbers of TVs soaring about day after day. A plan was hatched (if you'll excuse the expression) to trap and remove them. A baited cage-type trap was placed, and sure enough, it did attract TVs. Almost immediately, about 100 of them attempted to roost on it, promptly collapsing it. The attempt was abandoned, and to this day, one may enjoy watching Mother Nature's Cleanup Crew keeping the countryside tidy Carol WV

Finally, Mariah showed up in the nest box, but something was very wrong. Kaver left and Mariah attempted to cover the newborn eyas. In those days, we didn’t have streaming video to watch, so it was just static pictures every couple minutes. She seemed to be using her wing for support and you could see that something was wrong with her foot or leg.
I sat at my desk at work that day with tears streaming down my face, it's a good thing I didn't have any clients... Carol WV

(I think this is RIDICULOUS)!!! Pretty soon we will all be fined for putting up CHRISTMAS decorations!! Give me a break!
One wonders how many other countries feel they must remove evidence of their traditional celebrations for fear of offending ex-pat Americans... Carol WV
