One item I LOVE & need to get a few more of...a crank charging flashlight. I got a little one from LL Bean to test & it works like a charm. A cousin of mine has a crank radio and swears by it. Might check out one of those too!
There are several Red Cross emergency radios available. Mine is made by Eton, and runs on AC, Batteries (rechargeable), or crank. It also has a light, a flasher, a siren, a cell phone charger, and AM/FM and seven weather bands. I paid $50 at Home Depot for it :-) Carol WV

So, I made a great dinner for Rich's bd last night - had some friends over - herb-crusted Prime Rib, cheddar and bacon stuffed potatoes, evil little brussel sprouts, sauted oyster shi-take and baby bella mushrooms. Also had a Christmas Cookies candle burning. A 2004 Barboursville Octagon. Did the entire meal from scratch - never smelled or tasted a thing, but the wine went down smoothly! Feeling a bit better today because I went into the office and terrorized a few vendors, which always brightens my day! Sounds like a great BD Dinner to me Glad you're getting back to normal Carol WV

Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Falcon Flakes New Year Tradition

Would anyone like to join me for our traditional New Year's Eve Falcon chat? I'm not sure what time I'll arrive, but I'll be bringing caffeine free Pepsi for sure! See you there! Ei I will plan on checking in as well, but won't stay really late, as I have to work in the AM. I'm delighted that it's reached "traditional" status And... I won't be drinking ANY Pepsi products, as I no longer support a company that is giving a quarter of a million dollars to H$U$, a fraudulent "charity" that uses less than one half of one percent toward animal welfare, and the rest to political donations and its own salaries and huge pension fund. There were a few times in my 38 years of nursing when the hospital I worked at sent an ambulance out to get me and a few others when the roads were closed. We had to relieve people that had been pulling doubles, were tired and needed to get home.
I remember one blizzard where the NYC buses weren't running, so I walked to the hospital. I think I wound up working 20 hours. Thankfully, I hitched a ride home with a friend-in her husband's police car! Ei I never had to get picked up by the hospital, but more than once I was one of those who worked doubles. And, are we ALL (retired?) Nurses here??? Carol WV

I've been wondering how everyone else was faring with the storm. We here in the Eastern Panhandle of WV have apparently really lucked out When I looked at the satellite image the night before last, it *looked* as though we were on the western edge of the system, and all we got here was a few episodes of flurries, and that INFERNAL WIND! Now the WIND ADVISORY continues Carol in sunny and cold WV

(The cops and the fine, that is - NOT the rescuers! As we know: "No good deed goes unpunished.")
DNR have more power than real police. Unfortunately, along with that power, reason is not always present. That's one of the fields that attract wannabes Carol WV
