241  Anything Else / Totally OT / Re: Pepsi Challenge for our Troops on: 30-Nov-10, 10:01:26 AM
Pretty sad huh Carol? I knew you would not like this one. I can think of better and more needy ways of spending 250K. Yes, animals count but it needs to be legit. Thanks for all your input on HSUS.

That $250K will ALMOST pay Wayne Pacelle's salary  crying
Each and every one of us should be taking food, towels, bleach, kitty litter, cat and dog toys, etc., and whatever $ we can spare, to OUR LOCAL NO-KILL Shelters!  We all love animals, let's REALLY help them!

Re:  H$U$ in the #1 spot for $250K...  Long, but worth the read.  Frank Losey is the attorney who is carrying the effort to expose the H$U$ for the fraud it is...

"Maybe?  Maybe not?  But Maybe!!!

Today I received a call back from a Pepsi Representative
after I asked last week to be connected to someone in the General Counsel’s
Office.  Although the call back was not
from the General Counsel’s Office, I believe my 20 Minute conversation was with
someone who had supervisory responsibilities.
While at first I was politely given a pitch about how Pepsi would not give
the full $250,000 to any recipient in one lump sum, and that Pepsi would
monitor the grant to make sure it was used for its intended purpose.    At that point in time, I made reference to
the IRS Tax Fraud Case File Number; the excessive lobbying  activities of
the  HSUS; the potentially missing
$500 Million from  the  HSUS Tax Returns  for the Years 2005-2009; the potential
laundering of  money;  and the RICO lawsuit filed  by the Parent Company of Ringling Brothers.  I further mentioned several examples of how
the PEPSI “Due Diligence” review of the HSUS may have failed to detect the well
masqueraded acts of deception. At that point, Terri became very receptive to my
suggestion that I E-Mail a copy of the Background Paper entitled the HSUS
“Lobbygate” Cover-Up, which I did.
Fifteen minute later, I received a “Thank You” acknowledgement from
Terri.
While this is no assurance that
the Background Paper will make a difference, it could become an Uncle Remus
“Tar Baby” that may give some at Pepsi a pause that will not refresh!

The text of my E-Mail is as follows:

Terri:

Thank you for getting back to me.

Attached
is a summary of how the Humane Society of the U.S. (HSUS) has misused several
Hundreds of Millions of Dollars of donations that it has received on
excessive and prohibited lobbying, as well as an insight on how it launders
money through its "family" of affiliated organizations in
order to mask the magnitude of its lobbying activities.

With
respect to the use of the word "laundering," your outside
due diligence auditing firm may wish to review the lawsuit that was filed
in the District Court of the District of Columbia on February 16, 2010 by the Feld Corporation, the Parent
Company of Ringling Brothers Circus.  (Civil Action No.1:07-01532-EGS).
Here it is significant to note that not only is the HSUS named as a defendant
in this case, but that the allegations include references to a violation of the
RICO Statute (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act - - 18
U.S.C. 1961) because of alleged “money laundering” by senior employees of
the HSUS. Included within this lawsuit are allegations that the “HSUS’s
participation in the illegal, improper and fraudulent payment
scheme,” included specific references to Bribery, Illegal
Witness  Payments, Obstruction of  Justice, Mail Fraud, Wire
Fraud, Money Laundering, Conspiracy to Harm a Business, Malicious Prosecution
,  and Abuse of Process.

The Tax Fraud Case File Number is 29-92012.  The Office
of the Inspector General for Tax Administration in the Department of the
Treasury has also assigned a Case File Number (55-1005-0025-C).

Once upon a time there was a major auditing firm that did not catch the
irregularities that doomed Enron.   And once upon another time, no
auditing firm was quick to recognize the Ponzi-like scheme that was
masterminded by Bernie Madoff.  "Lessons Learned" from those two
episodes would suggest that when a RED FLAG is waved, there may be some BULL
behind it!

I have copies of the more than 1,400 pages of documents that
were submitted to the IRS in the event your due diligence auditing firm
would be interested in reviewing them."

Bottom line:  H$U$ is about to get $250K more with which to fight the "Animal Rights" agenda, at the expense of Animal WELFARE :-(

243  Anything Else / Totally OT / Re: This is from my heart. I just couldn't say it any shorter. Anne in Toronto on: 28-Nov-10, 09:10:45 PM
Anne, I think a lot of the things of which you speak are things that, to varying degrees, concern a lot of us.  While I appreciate the merits of the Forum format, I personally prefer the email list format.  (K@, please take note  wave )   Part of that, I think, is that I get a LOT of email, being involved in several interests, and really don't have time to go to Forums and dig for stuff.  This forum is the ONLY one important enough to me to visit, and even then, if it were not for the *wonderful* feature of forwarding the posts to the kfalconcam list, I would be missing most of what's shared here.  I don't believe Forums have the intimacy and immediacy of email lists, but with the advent of Twitter, for instance, there CAN be that immediacy for those "on the ground" in Rochester.
There have been a few instances when I've had something I would have liked to share, as I did on the list many times, but couldn't find what seemed to be the right thread into which to post it.  Now I know how to get to OT :-)
I am touched to hear that my responses have meant much to you.  You have been one of us for a long time, and I was saddened to know that you have been hurting here.  Hopefully, this "from the heart" discussion will help to clear the air and give you back what you've been missing.  I've just spent some time reading very early kfalconcam messages, and seeing several names there that we don't see here on the Forum.  Of course there is always attrition, for reasons having nothing to do with content, but I think there are people that all of us miss in the day to day discussions.
Evolution is a given in any group, and there are things we lose that lots of us miss, even as new things appear.  But one thing has remained constant with this Falcon group, in whichever format, and that's the love we develop for one another even as we are all devoted to the wonderful Birds we all love.  Our lives are diminished with each loss, those of others here as well as our own, but we are still "family", and you're an important and appreciated part of it.  Thank You for sticking with us.

Anne, I think all of us not in the inner circle of this group were curious about why we need a new logo. I can't see any harm in your questions and I would bet my life that NOBODY took offense at what you said. I'm sad that you feel you should keep your opinions and questions to yourself, or that you don't fit in here anymore for whatever reason. You said you have "learned your place", but I think your place is right here chiming in with any and all questions and comments. I personally have enjoyed your comments for years and want to continue hearing from you.

I've just looked them all over again tonight, and still really like #47.   I must confess, the "cute" logo  didn't make me want to wear it, it's just TOO cute as a signature for Rochester's fierce birds... I think #47 says so much more, and can see it looking great on a T-Shirt.

I've never heard any bird say much of anything comprehensible, although the owners swear they are great linguists...
Anne in Toronto[/color]

My Mom has had a succession of Parakeets over the years, who showed varying talent in that direction.  The most memorable one was Skipper, and he would go on and on.  She had an appliance service man there one day, and was in the other room chuckling as the bird went through his extensive repertoire in the kitchen, ending with "LISTEN, I'm TALKING to you!!".  Finally, the poor guy came in and said "Is that bird FOR REAL???"

Of the ones available to view this morning, I like #46 the best.  I wonder if it would be proper/feasible to include the Kodak Tower in the background...
Lots of the others show a lot of imagination and work, but (in my TOTALLY subjective opinion of course) remind me of USPS and team logos.

After many years of faithful service, we decided it was time to retire our Kartoon Kaver in the Egg logo.

<snip>
What does everyone think? Please note that we are under no obligation to buy one of these logos. If we don't like any of them, we can walk away and only pay the small listing fee.

What a grand idea  happy
I've always thought the "kute" logo seemed trivializing to the whole K-and Rfalconcam experience.  It will be very interesting to see what people come up with as a successor thumbsup

He is bait every time he steps into the pocket to throw the football! I imagine there's alot of defensive players gunning for him and putting a little extra into their tackles.  devil

One can only hope...

This is one of the dogs that the H$U$:
A. Collected thousands of dollars in donations to "care for", when in reality, the H$U$ never had anything whatsoever to do with any of them, and
B. Recommended that they all be killed for being too vicious to be salvageable.
Best Friends stepped up and took them in.
