Right, MAK! Dustbin = garbage can.
Ain't we quaint??
I have a UK Friend on a Cat List, who recently referred to her house as a "tip". The context was quite funny For the uninitiated, the tip is where the dustbins' contents end up... A lot of us on the cat lists, several from the UK and Australia/New Zealand, have a lot of fun with the different meanings of common words across the water. Carol

I don't believe there is a person here who does think poisoning anything is funny. You are certainly not obligated to enjoy Tom Lehrer's humour. The fact that many of us do does not make any of us poisoners. Good satire is always likely to offend someone. Definition of SATIRE 1 :a literary work holding up human vices and follies to ridicule or scorn 2 :trenchant wit, irony, or sarcasm used to expose and discredit vice or folly If any of us really thought poisoning pigeons was funny, would we be here among fellow animal lovers? I'm sorry NYC, I didn't mean to offend you. There is a lot of great humour out there, some of which may always offend someone. With all due apologies, should the rest of us not enjoy a good laugh on occasion? None of Tom Lehrer's, just to use one example, was malicious. We would be a poorer people without the occasional good belly laugh. Carol WV

Sorry, I do not find any humor in this song. Unfortunately there are some people who will hear the song, performed by a popular person, and act on it. My feeling is a bird is a bird,...pigeon or peregrine... no difference. What the pefa does is nature and is accepted as such, Poison is disgusting no matter if it is a pigeon or pefa or any critter.
I'd venture a guess that many of Tom Lehrer's delightfully politically incorrect song titles, taken out of context, will manage to offend someone. That doesn't negate the fact that his wonderful satirical songs have earned their rightful place in the annals of American Humour. Carol who was in school in Boston in his heyday

(In the Totally Inappropriate category, does anyone remember Tom Lehrer's song "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park"?)
Yep...we have some Tom Lehrer albums (haven't bothered to replace them with CDs), and they're classics. Patti I'd say there are several of us here, Mary from Charlotte, and I as well Carol WV

Carol! If you: (1) know what a Luddite is; and (2) can spell "Winnipesaukee"... you are sure to crack it!
I LIVED next to that lake for more than 25 years, I'd BETTER know how to spell it! And I am fast learning why Steve Jobs is mad at Adobe... Carol now about two miles from the mighty Shenandoah River, in wild, wonderful WV

Hope you will also find a way for us Luddites to see it as well. I'm limited to a "not the latest" version of Flash, by the version of OS X I have. My Son's advice for me to get a new computer is not an alternative at this point. Since I lived for many years on both sides of Lake Winnipesaukee, your presentations are extra enjoyable for me Carol now in WV

Me too But I do draw the line at steamed okra and raw oysters (texture), and licorice (makes me gag, even the smell). Pretty much anything else billed as food Carol WV

Actually, I love those beautiful old buildings (on the outside), but I do believe that the inside holds all of the sadness within those walls. Graystone was a threat location when we were bad as kids - "behave or I'll send you to Graystone". Carol, that is a beautiful pictorial.
Similarly, Danvers was where WE might have to go. I thoroughly enjoyed my three months training there, and my heart breaks to see what a ruin it was allowed to become. As Student Nurses, we didn't work in the "back wards", though we did get the occasional tour. We had huge key rings, and of course had to try the keys every time we found a locked door in one of the tunnels. We found a lot we couldn't open. The patient artwork was incredible, it's a shame more was not preserved. Some photos are here and there online. The "infirmary" for any Student Nurse was two rooms just inside the main entrance in the central Admin Building. It was all beautiful polished wood paneling, curved staircases, huge windows, etc. I spent two nights there with a sore throat once. Now and then I spend way too late in the evening chasing photos of the place online. They tore down all but a piece of the Admin Building to build condos, sigh... Carol richer for the experience

On a hunch, I Googled Greystone... Bingo, it's yet another of the magnificent old Kirkbride asylums, many of which have been destroyed or at least abandoned, and falling into ruin. http://www.kirkbridebuildings.com/buildings/greystonepark/When I was in Nursing School, I had my Psychiatric Nursing rotation at the Danvers State Hospital, which is on the list at http://www.kirkbridebuildings.com/buildings/The concept was innovative, and the buildings beautiful. Sadly, too many were allowed to deteriorate after closing, and will never be duplicated. Carol WV

Honestly, it's like being their mothers. We want them to be independent, but when they're not seen for a little while we start having sleepless nights! I know I'm never going to rest until one day I tune in to the falcon cam and it's Calli or Jem we're watching sitting on eggs Do you actually think you'll be able to rest then? You'll be well addicted by that time Carol WV web watcher since C-S days
