We actually found a product called iPood that is a lightweight trowel designed for backpacking.  The name was so funny we traded our old model in for this one:

Patti and Jeanne have probably seen this already, but there is an excellent manual for those new to backpacking and out of the way camping: http://tinyurl.com/ccy97xu billed as "an environmentally sound approach to a lost art".  A huge amount of good information, packed into a rollickingly funny small paperback  devil

I know this probably isn't funny...but at first glance when I saw that shot of Beauty and her stance and face...my first thought was she was looking like 'oh crap he's back'.   whistle

In complying with EPA regulations, many pesticide manufacturers are using a new and different rodenticide, rather than the anticoagulants we've all seen.  At present, there is no antidote.

WHY do people need these goddam weapons!!? I cannot understand! How can this bring joy or satisfaction?!

This type of person, and I use the word loosely, would be doing the same sort of rotten things with or without a particular tool.   Sad
It's not the tool that makes him sub-human.

Leesburg has had an ongoing problem with TVs.  They had an ill-fated attempt to trap them several years ago, and I recently posted here an article about the current effort to control them.

41  Member Activities / Pets / Re: RIP to Cally on: 01-Jan-13, 07:52:43 PM
Yesterday we lost our kitty Cally. She was a long-haired calico cat with golden eyes. Her fur was brilliantly colored. On March 12, 1993, we adopted her from the Nevada Humane Society. She was about a year old then, so she was around 20 years old. This wasn't sudden, as she has had failing kidneys for a few years, and been on a prescription cat food diet, and took Meds to help her. After a couple of weeks of slow decline, yesterday she became too weak to walk, so with the help of our loving veterinarian we gave her the last precious gift of release from this world.

Cally was an indoor only cat, and really was our baby. She loved life, she loved us, always wanting to be beside Bob or I, or on a lap being petted and purring. It would be much appreciated is one of you who knows how would please light a candle in her memory. Cally enhanced our lives, and we are grateful for having had her for so long.

Wishing you all a happy and loving New Year with all of our animal friends.

Debbie in Reno

Hugs to you all, for giving her a wonderful loving life, and, as you say, that last precious gift.  It never gets any easier to say Goodbye.  Perhaps some day, in her memory, you will have the opportunity to give a good life to another kitty.  kittykiss

Thank You, Everyone, for the kind wishes  happy
It was a low-key Birthday.  I worked until 8 PM, then stopped on the way home at the local Japanese restaurant and picked up an assorted Nigiri appetizer plate and a Spicy Tuna and Seaweed Salad, to eat at home.  Talked on the phone with Friends and Family.
Thamk you all again  notworthy

Sensationalism aside, the Python "Problem" is self-limiting:
http://usark.org/featured/new-python-cold-study/

DNA testing of pythons found in the Everglades has shown that most of  the ones captured, in spite of the anti-petkeeping pressure groups' agenda, are descended from snakes released in flooding following Hurricane Andrew.
