I'm filling in some details on this year's event chart but with the new setup I'm not quite sure what to call "branching". It used to be when they made it to the ledge from the perch. So this year, what do you think...rooftop? Side wall of the well? Other spot that I'm not thinking of?
Thanks!
I've had a few chuckles thinking about them "Porching" Carol WV

Now I know why Steve Jobs and Adobe don't get along I HAVE the latest version of Flash that my computer will support, and it apparently doesn't support THIS album At least the two photos of the area in the Imprints post show me where the box is... Carol WV

When I worked at the accounting firm, I had, with the owner's approval, since she was (and still is) an AOL subscriber, downloaded/installed AOL on my workstation, using a modem undet my desk. A wannabe supervisor told me to get rid of it, so all I did was hide it. I really WASN'T using it to goof off, part of my job was sending payroll direct deposit files to my clients' banks. Several times, when the company T-4 was out of order, or whatever happens to stuff like that, I had to use my own AOL account to send the files in time to pay the employees... One day, said stupidvisor needed to send one, and he came and asked me if I could send it for him using AOL Carol WV

It was tried with Kako. It took the 3 years to teach him how to hunt for fish on his own, and even then he imprinted on people, and was apparently rejected by wild Orca. He was found dead a year after being released in Norway.
We can't release these animals, it would be killing them slowly, like was done with Kako. The best place for them is where they are, in a large aquarium where they can be with one another. Instead of hunting, they perform. Thus we have create a new "social" species of Orca, that is now captive.
We can't undo what we have done to them, so all we can do is maintain them as they are.
Thank You! We, of all people, should understand that a "wild" animal who has imprinted on humans is unlikely to survive if returned to "the wild". The only hope for many endangered species is captive breeding programs. It is no kindness to abandon these animals to "nature", where they will almost surely die miserably. Carol WV

My yard is mostly a mess...the lilac caper this spring opened up the "canopy" and now the poison ivy is absolutely flourishing! I don't like to do it, but I'm on my second gallon of Roundup...as soon as the tops die another crop sprouts up from the roots...they say eventually it will all actually die. When I bought my house six years ago, there was a rampant growth of PI on the back fence. As in (old cow fence) posts braided with 1' PI trunks, and a top like an elm tree. I suited up and cut it back two feet at a time so it wouldn't fall on me, and sprayed the stumps with Ortho Brush B Gon Poison Ivy. About two weeks later, a couple of feeble sprouts appeared, and I doused it again. Absolutely gone, no further attempt at coming back. PI should be the West Virginia State Vine, : Carol WV

Anything Else / Totally OT / Re: Very sad news from Anne in Toronto, but some good news, too!

Something positive happened today, in the midst of my sadness and confusion. I received a letter from the Trillium Gift of Life Network and not only did they take bone, for future transplantation, from Kevin, but told me that they can use his eyes as well. Kevin was a very visual person. He loved reading and watching TV, especially nature programmes and travelogues, and going for drives to see what the seasons were doing to his environment. I think that he would be very pleased to know that someone may see their world around them, using his eyes, or that someone may recover functionality with his bones. What greater gift could come of his life ending too soon! I hope that all you folk out there will take a minute to indicate to your families and friends, that if the worst should happen and you should die, that you want to help someone else out. I knew that Kevin and his family would approve, so was able to make the decision at such an awful time, without any thought. It's been a little ray of light, in my present rather dark world. Anne C. (Toronto, ON Canada)]
Thank You, Anne! In the midst of grief, you and Kevin have given that last, and most wonderful, gift, that others may have a better life. I'm sure that there is a special place in Heaven for those who truly give of themselves to help another. Carol WV
