I just made my donation to Wild Wings.

I faded out before midnight, but made my modest donations to both at about 10:30 this morning  happy

Moved the hardware from 2 blocks away to in the building & they can't keep the exchange server connected...blinks out every time I try to send an email.

Had that happen in an office where I worked for years.  The "tech guy" was a fumble-fingered blowhard  stupid

Hi Donna, I still can't open it.  I think it has something to do with the fact that I have a MAC
and I don't have the right Operating System.  I need Lion OS.  Anyhow, thanks for your help.
I will try a couple of things.  Maybe I might even ask for technical assistance!

Ooo, Lola, *I* have a 12 year old Mac, and the latest version of Flash won't work with my old Firefox 2.0.0.20, on OS X 10.2.8, etc., but even *I* could watch Donna's latest link...
Trust me, it's not anything you'd want to try.  The backs of my legs go cold eight rungs up a ladder  scared blue

Anybody planning to attend a New Year's Eve Chat again this year?

We had 2 chats going last year: one on Ustream's Social Stream during the fireworks show and another on the Forum's chat.

How would I take part? Our New Year happens 5 hours prior to yours... but I HATE to miss anything fun!!!

I meant the Forum Chat.  The U Stream one doesn't work on my venerable computer, I'm hoping the Forum one still does  pray

That's nothing. This is how we power the cameras at Rfalconcam.

That should work  Wink  And even be able to give some back to the grid  clap

Ok so now I'm in Columbus Ohio and can't get out of here until 10:40am this morning. Almost 5 hours to be in this lovely station-could be worse like when I came here on my way to Arkansas when the bus was overbooked and I stayed here over 6 hours!!! This gets me home in Rochester at 8:00pm instead of 2:40pm this afternoon. Unless of course there's more trouble down the road!

I was stuck at the airport in Columbus once, for six hours, due to a connecting flight being canceled.  I must say that, as good "people-watching" spots go, Columbus doesn't compare with the likes of New York, Las Vegas, or Washington DC  Wink

"Normal" flies and maggots are sometimes used to clean and debride wounds.
However, since more and more stray dogs are being brought into the US by "Adoption" groups, their infestations of the bad ones are increasingly common, where they were seldom seen North of the Tropics until the past few years.
The following link tells the story, but IT IS NOT FOR THE SQUEAMISH  nausea

In 2011, I was able to get Feral Stat (a feline oral birth control prescription) for my little outside family.  There was only one kitten that year.  The cost for the season was approximately the same as one neutering through Spay Today.  So, in the spring of 2012, I tried to get it again, and the vendor has disappeared.
It was great, one little packet, compounded for the number in your "colony", in wet food, once a week.
Others apparently miss it too: http://ezinearticles.com/?Birth-Control-For-Cats---What-Happened-to-FeralStat?&id=6915618

When my two Sisters and I were kids, we used to alternate two-week Summer stints at my Mom's family's farms.  Some of the best times of our lives  happy
When we returned home, however, my Dad, who was a "city fella", used to patiently urge our Mom to please get our sneakers into the wash, as the "Big Barn Smell" apparently was offensive to him  laugh

57  Anything Else / Totally OT / Re: The New Skinny Olafsens on: 16-Nov-12, 08:15:14 AM
I just updated my profile with a recent picture of the new skinny Olafsens.  I'm still holding at 43 pounds lost, from a size 18 to a size 8, and am running 5 miles per day (I'll do 10K every so often simply because I can).  Rich is down 70 pounds, from a very tight XXL to a L, and he still has about 40 pounds to go!  This has been the hardest thing that we've ever done!  Quiting smoking 7 years ago was a piece of cake compared to this!

What a fabulous achievement  thumbsup
Congratulations  clap

Given the amount of water running through the streets, it's a shame that the name Aunt Flo is already taken.

Is it just me, or does anyone else expect something a bit more eloquent than
“I was like 'Holy crap.'” from a linguists graduate student?

It's not just you.

A wild night for sure, though it appears at the moment from my windows, that my neighborhood is unscathed...
SERIOUS rain, and shrieking wind most of the night.  Power never faltered here at my house, that would have been a nuisance since I have electric heat and no alternate heat source, and it's only 39° here this morning.  phew
