I only got one photo the evening of 9/6. For comparison...
Mt. T has a larger malar stripe almost hood like. Mr. C doesn't. I think it is a new visitor.
The only pic I could find of Mr. T quick yesterday looked like pretty much a full hood, but it wasn't a full profile. Never a dull moment...

Would love to be at KP right now!
I wonder if this is a tiercel or another female Archer's added to his harem? The picture didn't look like a juvie either did it? I had the strange thought that maybe U and A had a hatch this summer, but the pic posted is not that of a juvie. So all three can be sharing the same space in harmony? I think it looks more female than male, not sure though. Maybe a passer-througher! Time will tell and so will the watchers! Definitely adult plumage. It's hard to judge size without something to gauge by. There is a fluffiness to the bird that I usually associate with females, but that's a real generalization. Stormin', Rhea Mae's son, has that fluffy look too. We'll have to wait & see it beside another bird or on a known sized object. It won't stay harmonious with 3 together forever. Hopefully they'll sort themselves out quickly.

Yarak probably had to log back in too...
All robots have an on/off switch. Yarak has several. Yarak has been logging in and reading the Forum since it restarted last night, but his posting ability was shut off until I had a chance to test it with some real tweets. I stand corrected...

Neither Ei nor Donna think it's Archer. They are very good at comparing photos. Anything is possible Margaret. Oh I wish I had some wheels right now! Well I guess we watchers have a job ahead of us. If we can see B&A downtown at the same time as Unity and another falcon at KP we will be onto something! Oh boy!!! I'm hoping to look at some more file photos tonight, but just the few I could browse quickly, Archer's malar stripe end is a bit more pointy to me. And the area over the cere looks dark-dark-dark except for what may be a loose feather parked there. Now would be a good time for another tiercel to move in when Archer isn't in high-alert-territorial mode.

September 6: As of today, NX has been on her own for one week. She remains close to Berkeley Plantation, and each morning wakes up a little further from her release location. For the last five nights she has roosted next to a small tributary of the James River that cuts up behind Berkeley and Westover; this is prime eagle habitat. Looking at her “tracks” on Google Earth, we can see NX’s travel path tends to stick to tree lines, which provide her good cover and lots of roosting and perching places; the shallow waters of the upper tributary where she has been for the last few days are good fishing grounds. Position, speed, and altitude data is recorded by the backpack at 15-minute intervals, so interpretations of other behaviors (for example, hunting) would only be conjecture at this point; however, we are seeing her in the air quite a bit flying from place to place. It will be interesting to see where she moves to next now that she has reached the narrowest end of the tributary. Maps are posted at http://www.wildlifecenter.org/wp/tracking-nx/
