Observation for Toronto - Don Mills

Dave & I have a Wedding to go to on Saturday, so we won't be able to join all of you
Would like to try to join you all at Wild Wings if someone will give me a time... is anything going on that Sunday??

We haven't firmed up the time yet, ginha, but will post as soon as we know! 

I'll probably just hang out downtown looking for birds Sunday morning 'cause I have to head for home by early afternoon.

[Carrie, Thanks for the notice. I would be happy to take Tory out for you-just ask for me in the cottage and I will let them know you will be coming. There is seed in the cottage for $1.00 a bag and some bagged peanuts that work great too. See you Friday.Terry]

We cannot make it this year!  I'm bummed!!!  I'd go to Toronto in a flash and would be great to see Nisgara Falls again!  Lunch next year Ei!!!  Will miss seeing everyone!!!

Phooey!  Well, hopefully next year we'll be back to "normal"! I'll miss seeing you guys too!

Brian is coming with us Ei and I left a message for Dan. Waiting to hear back from him. 

Oh good! I was hoping he'd be up for an adventure!

FYI -- I just checked Mary Jemison schedule :  Cruise at noon, two, four pm.   First one is 75 minutes long, the others are two hours.     Cost is 13. 

Hmmm...maybe I could squeeze that in Friday at 4...have to ponder that...

It's the same old story, same old song and dance, my friends! 

Well, better than a totally empty nest box...the day they skipped was WAY more depressing than this!

I would love to join you all at Wild Wings on Friday.  If Terry knows we are coming, I'm sure she would try to arrange for us to see Tory (Peregrine) up close and personal.  I was there this spring with a group from school, and it's pretty amazing to see those wings and her eyes so close.  Also, they typically have small bags of sunflower seeds available for purchase to take on the Bird Song Trail.  You might not want to count on it, but it's good to know if you can't get peanuts. 

It sounds like most will be in Buffalo on Saturday, but if anyone is looking for a relaxing, informative experience in Rochester for a few hours, here is an idea:  A narrated trip down the Genesee River and Erie Canal on the Mary JEMISON, docked just down the street from the Times Square Building.

Still waiting to see if Bai Yun is pregnant again.  Meanwhile this news was posted...

We are filled with pride! Just days ago, in a naturalistic den, high in the mountains of Sichuan Province, surrounded by bamboo and forest ferns, Su Lin gave birth to her first cubs.  And from what we’ve seen, her maternal skills kicked right in as she gently picked up the vigorous and squawking cub with her mouth and sheltered it into her great body for warmth soon after the cub was born.

This news from China is fantastic and the culmination of months of waiting since we heard of Su Lin’s successful breeding back in March.  Not only has Su Lin given birth in her semi-wild enclosure, but she is  also the first new panda mother of the year.  We also learned that Su Lin gave birth to a second, stillborn cub.  While this is a sad note in this otherwise joyous event, we know that this is not an uncommon occurrence with giant pandas. From what we’ve seen, the veterinary staff has already given the surviving cub its first quick examine and have returned the cub safely to Su Lin.

As we hear more, we’ll share what we’ve learned.  So stay tuned! And in the meantime, mark your panda-calendars: July 8, 2011, was an auspicious day!

Would love it if there was some get together Saturday! Let me know, OK? I can't drive to Buffalo though.

OK...so far...Wild Wings on Friday-they're open 10-2, exact time TBD. So far in my car, me & MAK. Maybe Jeanne & Margaret will meet us there. 

Joyce has graciously offered to schlep me to Buffalo for a fledgling fix on Saturday, again, time TBD.  I was thinking maybe we could figure out a place to meet for dinner Saturday-nothing fancy-just a time & place & whoever can get there can get there...

Now if we could just get the transporter beam working for Bobbie ...

MAK and Ei - for some strange reason, I am off this Friday, and I would LOVE to meet you at Wild Wings.  I have never been there  -  even though I don't think I live all that far away! 

Wild Wings might be a possibility but I can drive myself!

Make sure to take some peanuts and sunflower seeds and take a stroll through the paths at Mendon Ponds Park...I've managed to get chickadees to feed from my hand even on my summer visits.  I just walked around until I heard chickadee(s) calling, put my hand out and waited patiently...not as easy to do when the mosquitoes are biting!

Thanks for the tip!  Just need to remember to put them in the car!
