2nd Morning at the Sheraton Centre

I got to the watch at 7:45am.  The chicks were fed at 6:30am [webcam
viewing].  Around 9am, the oldest chick was flapping and running
back and forth.  Most of the time, at least two chicks were visible
from ground level.  At 9:30am, an adult visited the nest ledge
briefly.  For about half an hour, none of the chicks were visible so
this was possibly another food drop.  Linda dropped by a bit later
and confirmed that all four chicks were on the nest ledge.  I left
just after 11:30am and the site was now being watched by Annie.

And, as of right now, all 4 are still at home...though Sunshine fooled me there for a minute...thought it was Rhea Mae!

Looks like the zoomed view from the new cam is misbehaving today (better than earlier-new cam was out altogether), but all 4 are present and accounted for!

Does anyone know-- is this the Milton who returned to his nest last year to find another male?

Almost 100% sure this is the same Milton who was displaced by Jack.  Wasn't it after he was injured & released from rehab?

The slim look is typical in the heat.  When it's cooler than this they're actually fluffed up a bit to stay warm-think fluffy down coat-the fluffier the coat the warmer it is. 

So is she molting?

I dion't think she's in a full molt yet...just the downy stuff she doesn't really need in the heat

Well, today I start my first fledgling watch at the Sheraton Centre!

2011 Sheraton Watch Start

Well, the Sheraton watch started today.  I arrived on site at
7:45am.  Two chicks were visible and an adult flew to the
‘Centre’ logo for a brief while.  At 8:50am, the swing stage was
moved to the south side [not lowered] and started moving west,
towards the nest ledge.  I was afraid it would cause a premature
fledge so quickly went over to the hotel and talked with their very
receptive management.  The stage then moved east and around to the
north side.  The chicks didn’t seem disturbed.

On the way back to the courtyard, I met up with Annie Clarke who
is joining the watch.  We spent a fair amount of time with site
orientation and then met Zoe who introduced us to Vanessa, who will
also spend time with us on the watch.

All in all, the chicks were not running around or flapping.  This
supports Linda’s feeling that we likely will not have a fledge until
the weekend, accident excepted.  Incidentally, the adults were seen
on the west KPMG logo with a full view of the nest ledge.  This is a
new office tower.

Banding day is June 10th. Watch the CPF page for pics late that night or the next day. It will be another busy day of banding. Folks at Yellow Pages are very excited.  Marion will be looking for help with the watch..Rochester gals what U doing about 1o-14 days after the banding ? 

I so wish I could!
