from CA--how many bridges from NYC to Troy?

I actually just had to count on a map...14 or so...some are more like overpasses than bridges and a few old railroad trestles.  But I'm dubious about a pair nesting on every bridge.  There's 2 other bridges right in the TH-Record area-Newburgh-Beacon & Kingston-Rhinecliff-and they only reported on the Mid-Hudson.  I've never heard of a pair on the Kingston-Rhinecliff and I've spent a lot of time at a park right under the bridge.

But then again, there is absolutely no organized birding or bird reporting in this county.  I'd have to travel several hours to Bonnie's area to find a group.  Bizarre.

Yippee!!!!  I am hoping hoping hoping everything goes smoothly from now on. How many days between start of incubation and hatch?

I don't know when hard incubation started but they reported just a couple days ago that hatching was due anytime.
CPF reported hard incubation starting 04/25/2011-the same day the Rochester gang first visited-so 33-34 days depending on when the hatch actually happened.

10807  Support / Help! / Having trouble navigating the forum? on: 28-May-11, 06:26:00 PM
Many of us old-timers have gotten pretty quick at posting & finding our way around here.  But newcomers may not be able to figure out where to start.  So, just like the FAQ we worked on earlier in the season, let's use this topic (which can/should be moved if the moderators feel it best) to post questions and answers that can be put into a quick, one stop reference guide.

So, I'll start with the links that already exist...

There is a section of the forum with questions & answers here

There is also a help page on the forum tabs just above (home-help-search-profile-my messages...etc) or click here. It outlines tha basics of how this forum works.

Once again, this is a community effort...and no question is too trivial...the regulars asked them all when we first migrated here!

That being said, since I hadn't looked at those pages in a while it took me a bit to find them.  Perhaps they could be pinned to the top of the forum home page.  And perhaps we old-timers should come up with a quick reference guide now that we have figured out how to navigate pretty quickly.  Yes, I volunteer to coordinate it-I'll start a separate note for suggestions and items that people are finding the most vexing to figure out.  The guide, once complete, can then take the pinned at the top spot.

I would say i'm sad but i guess it's not ok to say that here but i am i anyway.  Sad

R.I.P. falcon eggs of 2010 - meet you at the Rainbow Bridge

no i don't think the last egg will hatch but B & A have done their best & i  heart them

It's absolutely OK to say we're sad here!  We are human and we will all grieve in our own way that the season has not turned out the way we expected.

The thing we do need to remember is that Beauty and Archer and Unity will continue to do what they do best...be peregrines...and we have been privileged to watch them up close.  And we do have M&K's grand-eyases to watch!
