Yup-it's official!

April 14 – Egg no. 4 hatched sometime prior to 12:48 PM. The owlet looks OK.

In view of the insect presence in the nest box (threat level still undetermined), it's pretty clear that what this nest needs is a Texas Blind Snake. Anybody got a spare I can have, or know of a source of them?

Durand finally rolled all the eggs together though her incubation is still spotty.

I haven't seen the ovoid today, but the cottonball lineup is pretty extensive...

And back again.  I seem to recall having noted this in & out & in & out several other times this season...not predicting anything, just saying... 

I'm not getting it either.  Pretty sure it's off line at night.I'm guessing the viewers are either checking in or never closed their browser.

Ei, the fact that Beauty is doing the majority of the sittiing....is that in itself, unusual?   I guess I never paid quite so much attention to it as now.  Don't the females do the majority of the sitting?  I remember seeing the chart from last year, and it struck me as, "yeah, that seems right."  But now there is a whole new ball game.   I know that Mariah and Kaver shared duties, and he was a good provider.  Is there a visible difference in what you are seeing? 

This is absolutely normal.  The brooding charts have been kept since 2002 and can be found at  http://shakymon.com/rfc-info.html  On a  quick browse it looks like Kaver tended to sit a bit longer at a time than Archer did last year, but overall about the same amount per day.  And the tiercel very rarely sits at night ever-except I recall Kaver would do an overnight shortly before the eggs would hatch.

I hope Beauty can find some cached food. She has to be hungry by now. Archer stopped by briefly and took off. What's up with that boy?

I've been wondering the same thing myself today.  Seems Archer and Beauty are sharing egg sitting duties.   Or is it just the times I check in?   Is anyone tracking time Archer is at NB versus time he is at KP? 
Does he have a schedule of sorts where he is at NB or at KP?   It seem to me that he does, but who knows for sure?  Will he be able to provide prey for both sites if both sites produce young?  I know there are many unknowns, and this is new for all of us, and now...there is Quest to track as well.   What a year!

The part I can answer...Beauty has been doing the majority of sitting.  We will be doing the brooding chart again this year so we'll be able to compare.

Shaky-could it have something to do with the log in screen?  I know I personally have never seen a message like that, but I always log in forever.  Don't know what happens if you have the forum open when the log out time happens...

Camera 2 is a lot sharper than it was last year. See the picture attached to Donna's post from March 2010. (her 2000th post, btw)

The only one that seems a tad off to me is cam 2, but I think it's because it's focused more on the pebbles than the bird.  It wasn't apparent when we were just watching gravel, but now that they're incubating the birds seem a bit "soft" on the focus.  It was blurry the other day when it was overexposed, but that part of it is OK now. 

Cam 1 & 4 will necessarily be affected by the weather

(movie) Archer seems to be looking at cam 2 also.

(movie) He was mostly looking at the door.

DUH!  I should have thought of that...I'm looking at it all the time when I hear it banging on the streaming cam... 

I think we will do better once we have babies to watch!
