AWWW!!!

I usually don't watch there,  but after Donna's note I was curious ...guess I got lucky!

Dorothy lays her second egg of 2011

On a side note, a few minutes before she laid the egg she "lightened the load".  I remember Beauty did the same last year on the side perch rail.  Just keeping notes since we haven't had a chance to watch live streaming video of egg laying in Rochester before.

OK-finally had a chance to do the math...where I have notes (euphemistically "1st observed courting behavior") the range is 18-20 days between 1st copulation and 1st egg.  So March 31-April 2 or thereabouts.

  That picture is SOOO sweet! 

(Hey, if anthropomorphizing is one of my favorite pastimes, I'm gonna WORK IT!)

You know, I think either winter visitor last year or Whiney Tiny Guy perched there once in view of the camera.  And maybe one of the fledglings last year.  But it really is not a popular perch at all.  There has been some speculation it's the flag on top that makes it undesirable.

Tiny's crop is as big as he is!

Second hatch at Norfolk!  Not sure what time.  First sighting was around 12:08, but it was already dry.

OK, he's back from where ever.

He had a busy day yesterday...all tuckered out & needed to sleep in... 

I have a feeling Tiny is going to turn out to be male-and the 2 Godzillas have to be female!  Tiny is walking around & doing fine-getting pin feathers-sitting on his "heels"-making sure he gets fed-but those girls are so huge he looks like he's not growing at all.

Wow, that did not take long!!! To someone much more knowledgeable... when can we eggs-pect some eggs?

My events chart is at home, but I do remember last year they started copulating right away.  So whatever span between return & first egg last year will likely be the same this year.

 

2 on the Sheraton nest ledge-obviously too dark to be sure it's Rhea Mae & Tiago...
