It hasn't gotten here yet, but I decided to come in to work for a few hours to get a head start in case it's slow traveling in the morning.
But, according to my backyard birds it may not be too bad. I filled the feeders on Friday. Usually if there's bad weather coming they're empty by nightfall. When I left the house they had only gone through 1/3 of the seed. We'll see.

My birds disappeared, only Mr Squirrel out there having a feast! Even the squirrels weren't scarfing it down. Normal leisurely snacking. Got home at 4:30 & feeders were at the halfway point and still some seed on the ledge. I refilled, of course, but it's just odd. People were driving like there was a foot on the ground already, but it was blowing right out of the tire tracks down to dry, bare pavement. I know this is a strange question, but is there a storm headed for Rochester & thereabouts too? Ei

OK...I'm putting this one here 'cause the site I found it on lists a Z in the title...no patience tonight to find where we left F or T...from Daily Squee (a cheezburger subsidiary) "Whatsit Wednesday: Fischer’s Turaco, Zanzibar This bird is awesome! And I love Whatsits where we know what it is: It’s a Fincher’s Turaco from Zanzibar! But I do have a question about this bird: doesn’t its hairstyle look… familiar? Isn’t there an ’80s singer with hair like that? I’ve been wracking my brain trying to recall who it was… The closest I could come up with is Grace Jones or… Annie Lennox? I know I’ve seen someone with hair exactly like this bird! Does anyone know who I’m talking about?" Ei

Sorry for the ruckus I've caused. It wasn't my intention to store my pics here. I have alot to learn. Still a rookie. "MAK admits she is a little techno-challenged" This is an understatement! I'm not thinking ruckus...I'm thinking Shaky trying to get us more streamlined before the REAL watch season gets underway... Good food for thought. We'll figure something out. Ei

THE GILDED TURKEY! Never mind the article... have a look at this sucker. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/food/2010/11/stefan-gates-golden-turkey.shtmlI think I will go for the bologna, thanks... Slainte! (Anyone else want to take part in the "Big Ick Challenge"? Please do! The winner will receive a free lunch at the Highland Diner when I am home in Spring... Who could resist?! The judges' decision will be final - tho the judges have yet to be selected. Nor have the rules been established - they may change as the contest proceeds. The winner should not become complacent, as he/she may discover that the prize has gone to someone else while they are trying to claim it. Gloating will disqualify.)I don't know about Big Ick...I'm thinking more Big WTF! Ei

Ei - that first shot - on the snow - that's insane! Explain the angle, please. What a very nice and strange picture.
It's a VERY lucky take-off shot. It was eating a sunflower seed on the snow-you can see the empty hulls-and I thought I was taking a picture of it still sitting. I was shooting through the window of my back door (excellent view as I don't have a porch out there yet-see the 3rd picture ) so it's flying up toward the ledge below me to get some more seed. Ei
