Prothonotary Warbler???
greetings Aafke

I can't even pronounce that... much less ID it! Great little bird, tho... (What's a "prothonotary" anyway??)
From All About Birds http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Prothonotary_Warbler/lifehistory

Cool Facts

    * The Prothonotary Warbler is one of only two warbler species that nest in cavities. (Lucy's Warbler is the other.)
    * Go here to take a look at what goes on inside a Prothonotary Warbler nest, through the help of a Nest Box Cam provided by The Birdhouse Network at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
    * The name "Prothonotary" refers to clerks in the Roman Catholic church, whose robes were bright yellow.

A lot of Greenfinches
greetings Aafke

So those are Greenfinches!  I was watching the Loch of the Lowes cam the other day and a bunch of these were on the feeder.  I kept thinking they were Goldfinches, but they were too big.  Then I remembered I was watching a cam in Scotland...silly me!

Is there any cam link?

The cam is at http://www.zooatlanta.org/1212/panda_cam but it's only on 10AM-5PM eastern time.  Hopefully they'll extend the hours if a cub is born!

The new cam does not zoom or move, but it does see at night and it gives us an important missing camera angle.

A pan/tilt/zoom camera in this location would be a good future upgrade, especially if it could tilt upward far enough to see the top of the building. Maybe next Fall. We'll make that decision after we see how this arrangement works

Thanks.  It definitely covers areas that were hair-raising when no one was around to move cam 1-when the little stinkers were napping away on the ledge while we all got gray hair!

Hi folks! We had a little excitement tonight in Rochester. There was a tiercel flying with Beauty. We weren't sure if it was Archer come back from wherever he's been. Dana and I agree that it was a juvie male migrating through. The falcon on the east side of Xerox looked like Beauty to me and Dana thought so too( judging by her pics). Therefore I have to believe Beauty was in her favorite spot 5th column south side of Xerox when I left for the night. If Archer was in town he would have been with her on Xerox.  This is my humble opinion. Good night and I'll see you bright and early in the morning! heart heart heart heart
Thanks for the report, MAK!   Hmmm...it would be nice to think that it was a juvie tiercel Beauty knows very well.   heart

paperbag except, of course, there were no juvie tiercels at this nest this year  whistle  gum
