And... someone, please, tell me the bird in the left-hand corner on the home page. I know I have seen them/it but cannot ID. (Anything new, then?)
I think that's one of the options we came up with for what turned out to be an escaped pet bird in New Jersey a week or so ago...I don't have my sources nearby. Looks like the yellow warbler that was in contention for the yellow bird FF saw in NJ... what about a yellow warbler This one's a possibility too, but I was checking the gallery of Lloyd Spitalnik for possibilities-he takes a lot of great photos in Central Park & has a whole section just on warblers-and all the front views he has of the yellow warbler show reddish brown streaks on the breast...

Actually, I just finished working on a new Rfalconcam feature that will be unveiled in January.
That's sick making us wait that long! 4 months??? I'm wondering if we may have already gotten a clue...

OK, do not ask me to do the math on this... but Archer, it seems, is away from home for 5+ months. We do not know where he goes, right? Given that his and Beauty's offspring - Jemison and Callidora - have been not been relying on their parents for some time now, wouldn't Archer have sufficient time to raise a brood with another mate on his winter quarters? Or does this not happen with migratory species?
I think the only place such research has taken place is with the Southern Cross project (don't have the link here)-arctic peregrines migrating to far south South America-and this 52 year old brain cannot remember the details. Pretty sure there's only one nesting/year. (Finish your thought before hitting post) And travel time must be taken into account as well, leaving the away time actually far shorter than the time spent courting/incubating/raising the northern family.

So, I'm watching this clip here at work while on the phone with one of my co-workers. I wasn't paying TOO much attention when she yelps-What the %$^&* is that? I sheepishly tell her-just my peregrine love birds cooing at each other-and, yes, their ee-chupping can sound like rusty door hinges at times...

...that yesterday was National Punctuation Day? They even have a website. This year they're sponsoring a haiku contest. I liked this sample by Craig Harrison: Dot dot ellipses The yada yada of print. So on and so forth.

I don't think they have moved the camera...they have added a high definition camera. The regular camera I think is in the same position. They just have to put it at a certain angle in order to see the perch.
True-and the high def cam is much better than the old one. I wonder if they mounted it where the falcon used to perch? We're bound to catch him up there eventually.

Somewhere I have a link to the way back original birdcam page that opens with a kakking falcon-scared me half to death the first time I opened it. It was still live the last time I tried it a couple of years ago.
I don't think this is the page that had the kakking...maybe it was & the sound is gone...anyway... Birdcam 2000

I searched the Midwest Peregrie Database (purple USFWS band) for female peregrines with black over red (b/r) band on left leg. Since PPE has adult plumage, she would have to be born 2008 or earlier. Generally most peregrines stay within a certain radius from the original nestsite. Most of our falcons travel around the Great Lakes. Based on the numbers, PPE might be from Illinois.

Not sure if we can rule out a 2009 bird. Stormin hatched in 2009 and he's in full adult plumage. Just a thought...
