If all else fails, you could have lunch at Joe D's place on the west shore  Wink  All roads and waterways lead to food  clap

Hmmm...never heard of it...my favorite just below the walkway is Mariner's (used to be Mariner's Harbor).  Best lobster this side of Maine.
12167  Other Nature Related Information / General Nature Discussion / Looking for the nestbox on the Mid-Hudson Bridge on: 19-Sep-10, 05:15:16 PM
There's now a walkway over the Hudson River on an old railroad trestle from Highland to Poughkeepsie.  I've been looking for the peregrine nest on the Mid-Hudson Bridge for YEARS from the ground-never found it.  I decided to try from the walkway today.  No luck.

The sign on the bridge even says they're there

Only bird I saw was Buddy's cousin (and it was so cloudy you could barely see him-Picasa created this interesting enhanced version)

It was a nice day, though.  I'll find them.  They are out there.

Probably molted his white feather.  Hopefully it will grow back white.

One more correction on the map. The first blue marker on the left side of the map needs to be moved to the road up and to the right that says kodak park. Just before the bend it's blocked off and that's where Carol and I got kicked out last week. There's a little white out building there and that's where the security guard was stationed.

Will do!
12170  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Mapping the Kodak Park falcon watch on: 18-Sep-10, 09:26:44 PM
The red marker on the right is the cluster that PPE has been spotted on several times. In front of and to the left of the smoke stacks is the blue building with the black stripe.

OK-I'll fix it.
12171  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Mapping the Kodak Park falcon watch on: 18-Sep-10, 09:10:39 PM
Hope you understand my explanation.

Yup-I've been trying to mark where you've been talking about as the story unfolds.  Here's the link to the actual map.  Which of the red markers is the PPE building cluster?  And you (or someone) mentioned a building with a blue stripe (I think).  Where is that one?
12172  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Mapping the Kodak Park falcon watch on: 18-Sep-10, 06:59:55 PM
Thanks Shaky.

Where are the birds hanging out, relative to the stacks?  And where are the watchers hanging out, both before and after booting by Kodak?

Thanks!
12173  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Mapping the Kodak Park falcon watch on: 18-Sep-10, 01:48:00 PM
OK-I've been noting the locations of some watches & put some markers on the map.  Hoping you all can help me move them where they really belong.

Far left marker=Weiland and Latona   Lower marker=Weiland & Ridgeway

Stacks?=the only stacks I can spot visible from Weiland-  Street view cuts off just at the edge of the Kodak buildings

And an overview of the whole scene...

Green markers=A&B territory
Pink markers=Mariah sightings last year
Blue markers=PPE & SPE recent sightings

Kodak Park is WAY bigger than I realized.  I suppose Mariah could conceivably still be in the eastern section from the river to the bay...

Just a quick translate in case you didn't read the other thread-I called the tiercel the SPE-silver pigeon eater to go with his lady friend the PPE purple pigeon eater.
12175  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: OK...I'll say it... on: 18-Sep-10, 12:41:16 PM
He had yellow tape over his silver band. The tape could have fallen off by now.

yes When Z-man was at the old psyche center last year was the yellow tape showing up still? Anyone? confused

Yes...again, from Marcia's album

As he followed the female, his yellow band was apparent again. Off he went, in pursuit of his lady. Both birds flew northeast, and did not return. What a thrill to be able to identify one of the birds we all watched grow and fledge last year.

I looked at the pictures Joyce took at KP of the SPE (silver pigeon eater) and wondered

Could this be one of "our" boys?

I don't know...just something about his face just made me wonder...
12179  Rochester Falcons / Falcon Watches / Re: Twitter on: 17-Sep-10, 09:45:41 PM

I was looking a few weeks ago to see when the last sighting of Archer was in 2009 and Joyce had tweeted on Oct. 11th that she saw A&B on OCSR that day.

Thanks Kris-I marked it on my chart!
